Trading bug?
I have moved goods to the depot, the traders are there, I have my broker assigned, I have clicked the button "Broker requested at depot" andit says "trader can access depot". Yet, my broker is standing around in his office, doing nothing, with the "Conduct meeting" order.

Why is he not going to the meeting?

Edit 2: I have figured it out. For some reason the liason is stuck in a treetop. I did not notice him in the "other creatures" tab, because he is a "diplomat" and not a "merchant" like the others. I guess the reason for him being in the tree was because, as I said, my broker was picking fruit before, using a footstool. So the diplomat must have gone into the tree, my broker must then have gone down, and took the stool with him, trapping the diplomat in the tree. And since other dwarfs just care about the trading, not talking to some diplomat, they can trade in the depot just fine... I cut down the tree, and all was fine.

This epitomizes DF... Mark it as the answer, just so everyone can more easily enjoy it.

If i changed it to "Anyone requested at depot", a random dwarf went there immediately!

Is is because my broker is also my expedition leader and my manager? That he has three jobs?

It's not a bug, he's just LAZY.

Conduct meeting is usually because he's either chatting with the liason, or getting yelled at by sad dwarves because yes; he is also your current leader. He's not going to the meeting, but he is waiting for the meeting to come to him. Check if another dwarf has 'attend meeting'. It's usually the saddest one.

No, he was being alone in his office?

So, my broker/leader/manager is picking fruits, and as soon as the trade people arrive, exactly when I require him, some other dwarf suddenly wants to meet with him, and this "sad dwarf" utterly fails to attend the meeting with him, thus making trade at depot impossible, because he has to wait for the "sad dwarf" instead?

Utter lunacy if that is indeed what is going on. But thanks for replying. I still think it is a bug, because if the "sad dwarf" cannot come to the office, then the meating should be rescheduled, and the broker should just go trade instead.

If you can afford it (in terms of size of your population), it's always better when your broker does not have ANY other jobs. And even then, it can happen that he prioritizes other stuff (like drinking booze or sleeping) instead of having a meeting with the trader.

prioritising and delegating are true marks of good management
maybe you need to have a business minded trader that actually cares about the job instead of a dorfpleasing politician :steamhappy:

He's probably having a meeting with the caravan leader. Nothing you can do about it.

So, why is the caravan leader not going to the meeting?

Ok, I checked the save again. All four traders are at the trade depot. My least unhappy dwarf is content, and no other dwarf than the broker has the "conduct meeting" job.

So, I really can't understand why he does not attend the meeting.

What is love?

Not attending the meeting for a while.
TowerWizard Dec 10, 2022 @ 4:28pm
For a while? How long is a while? He is standing around in his office. No one else is there. He sometimes goes to sleep. Then he stands around some more, and goes to sleep again. All the while having "conduct meeting" as a job.

If I send "anyone" to the depot, they will go there. But not the broker. How is that normal?

Maybe if you assign an expedition leader that is different from the broker dwarf, this could be avoided? This meeting business has always been in the game.
