You need a screw press to extract the honey (built from the workshop menu). The press will require 2x mechanisms which are built in the mechanic's workshop

Yeah, on the hive, you just set which ones the press pulls from, when you give it the press honecomb task, exactly like with melting metal items.

I cant find the tool tip, but I remember requiring vials for certain workshops to create liquids and transfering them.

I am running into the same issue. For over a year gametime, I thought my hives weren't being harvested. Then I find their products in the inventory? Even though harvesting is supposed to destroy the hive and that isn't happening and although I've set all my Dwarves to take up Beehive duties and I never catch them doing that? Ah well, anyway. But the press isn't budging. I have 10 unglazed earthenware jars sitting in my inventory, and in another thread someone had tried just about anything that could be used, including vials. I need to make mead. Please. My Dwarfs need their mead!

is honeybee honey even relevant to brewing? on my kitchen labors, says it's not relevant to brewing... only cooking.

Honeybee honey can be brewed into mead in your still

Do remember that hives also produce royal jelly, which have a habit to clutter jugs and can only be used in kitchen cooking and are used in very, very low priority by cooks. Go check if yours aren't cluttered by those.

weird, when you go to restrict honeybee honey in the Labor > Kitchen tab... shows as "not relevant" to brewing. but yeah, i can make mead from it :)

I'm not sure I can tell if the jugs I have are used. I did make some new ones, that didn't solve the problem. I do have royal jelly in the inventory. But maybe that's the issue, because some other liquid just popped up an error that it couldn't be stored due to lack of proper storage container. I'll make some more barrels, buckets, jugs, vials, and anything I can think of, and just keep trying..

i made a storage just for mead too since a barrel cant hold different fluids ect.

Its a separate labour to brew drink from x, called make mead from honey, and is probably left out of the list of things the kitchen tab checks for.

In case any one is still wondering, I am pretty sure I found the issue. I was making unglazed earthenware jugs. According to the Wiki, those are unsuited for storing any kind of liquid.. You need to glaze them, at the kiln, which takes ash. So here I was sitting on stacks of unglazed jugs and vials, which didn't do me any good..
