Having the same issue here as well, trying to get rid of stuff but the dwarves won't do it.
Sometimes they do sometimes do not.
Is yer dump in outside area? It does not work when it is inside.

If this is a random bug its really frustrating as I've checked all the boxes and my dwarfs still don't dump anything. Dedicated haulers? Check. Refuse stockpile? Check. Dumping outside? Check.

If I had to guess Dumping items is very low on the priority list (Which we have absolutely no say in) and your dwarfs are constantly faffing about doing a million other jobs instead.

You can most defo have them indoors ._. my fort's is. So is the spot where corpses and rotten body parts. I keep a dump for actual trash and then one for other trash like items and I never have them outside since I don't want my dwarves vomiting everywhere if they were to go outside thanks to cave adaptation and what that does to things. I also don't need random animals attacking anybody hauling that stuff.

The same situation, I have 3 corpses of dogs that cannot be taken out.
Several gaming years have passed, and they still delight the eyes of my inhabitants)
The rest is discarded as usual.

Have a look at what else they're working on. It's possible that you've only got one or two dwarves on hauling duty not because you've set it that way, but because you've set most of the other dwarves to work exclusively or on high priority tasks.

I'm seeing this as well. A whole bunch of dwarves standing around idle and a bunch of refuse/dumping/hauling jobs are not being executed. This has got to be a bug.

Make sure that you also have a Garbage Dump zone.
My dwarfs bring the bodies and refuse out to the area when they overlap.

I suspect there's a more straightforward way but it works.

Are the things they're supposed to be hauling forbidden?

Na i had 6 people set to the hauling job and locked so its the only thing do. They did end up taking it away but it took an age for them to do it. As mentioned before it seems like the trash request on an item is a really low priority which seems dumb what we cant see that to be higher

I fell into this trap earlier. Its probably not the cause of your issue but more of a warning: when you lock someone, it means they will only do the tasks they are assigned to but if they're assigned to multiple tasks they might still not do the one you want.

e.g. if you have a miner/doctor locked, they might do mining or they might do medicine based on what's higher priority.

Also the other reason they might not be hauling is that the place they're meant to haul to is full. Happens to me a the time.

I'm a major dumbass. I was wondering why random crap was piling up in a random hall... Appearently I had a garbage dump in said random hall and my dwarfs were exclusively dumping into said random hall...

NOW their throwing trash into my Atom Smasher. . .

Items are not forbidden, refuse pile is not full, garbage dump exists, only a couple of dwarves set to exclusive jobs, and a dozen or more dwarves standing around idle. I'll try having the dump and refuse pile overlap.
