How Do I Deal With Light Aquifers?
Been a long time since I have played and apparently aquifer generation is alot higher then in the past. Cheers :)

Light aquifers are easy to dig through since the excavated area fills with water very very slowly. Just dig a staircase through it and build walls around it to block the water. You'll probably finish the walls before you get even one layer of water.

You're just trying to get through an aquifer layer, right?

Do something like this:
EEE
ESE
EEE
E=excavated area, S=stairs

Then fill the excavated areas with walls:
WWW
WSW
WWW
W=Wall, S=stairs

If you dug into the *side* of an aquifer, then just build walls next to all the damp stone to prevent flooding

Sorry, when you asked how to "deal" with aquifers, I thought you meant you were just trying to get through an aquifer layer.

So you're trying to make a well or something?

I mean yah I wanna do something usefull with them. Have an irrigation system. Showers, body removal with a little more class than a ♥♥♥♥ masher.

How do I access the water then? And if I come across the damp stone whats the pint of building walls? Wouldn't I just not dig in? Oh wait a second I think I remember. It makes you a well right? The stairs act as a well and the walls around the stairs stop it from flooding right? Or would I use pumps?

The problem with most aquifers is that they stop you from digging down, not sideways. If you run into water from digging sideways, stop digging sideways. If you run into an aquifer digging down, you can dig into it and then surround your staircase with water, and keep doing that til you've dug beneath the aquifer, at which point you can dig normally.

You can let them fill up a square and build a well over it, I think.

There's a tool-tip/pop-up for Light Aquifers and I think it gives some instructions. One thing you can aside from building walls is to smooth the walls, which will/should waterproof them as well. (I think)
