Help Finding the Architecture Labor
Anyone know why the architecture labor doesn't seem to be found in the labor work detail? I've got a trading post not being built, and I'm thinking it's cause I don't have anyone with architecture set as a work detail. I've had that be the culprit in the past, when my dwarves refuse to build something.

As far as I know, architecture is not a skill present in steam df. I think it's been replaced with "Masonry", though that's still a bit unclear

It's gone. The only thing it was good for was bridges and roads so I'm really not super sad it's gone.

Someone without a job will come by and do it soon, everyone does this in my fort.

Masonry? I thought masonry was dropped, actually. I thought they dropped it for stonecrafting? Or more accurately just renamed it.

Masonry is practically hauling now. It's a non-increasing job that everyone is assigned to by default. And it puts up walls and floors.

Stonecutting is the new masonry, and it's for building rock furniture.

Ironically, I've got a bridge that isn't being built as well, lol. But, I'm pretty sure architects used to check off on some other buildings too, before others would come and build them.

If they dropped that labor, it's a good thing. It had no real game play benefit, just caused problems.

As the son of a brick mason, it's a more accurate use of the term for sure.

Thanks for the help, everyone :).

Yeah I think they did but I'm not a rocket scientist and never played with power generation in any meaningful capacity lol

Untrue! Architects were very good at one thing in particular!

Being immediately conscripted to the expendable cavern militia.

Did you figure out what was the problem with the bridge? I can't get above ground bridge built either.

I was struggling to get a surface bridge built, I think the issue is that 'everyone can do it' but for some reason they consider it very low priority. I disabled off all hauling for a minute and they got right to it.

This is far from the true. Architects would go to a job site and clear items from the the building footprint, preventing jobs from being canceled due to obstructions.

I'm necro posting this out of how infuriating it is that I've been trying to build a trade depot for 2 seasons by my dorfs as so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid they can't kick a boulder 2 tiles and no matter how I set up my stockpiles they won't move it ending in a constantly suspended construction.

Disable other dumps and setup a dump zone nearby, just one tile. Dump objects from the area. Once done, delete the zone and enable your real dump.

What you can also do is build a wall / floor from the offending block a few squares away and by using closest material you can select the ones in the way. You may need to forbid other stones that are not in the way to make the choice clearer. Once built you can deconstruct.

This is probably the quickest as construct building has a higher priority then dumping.
