Removing dead corpses.
help! Having a problem with a dead pet, who is rotting away in my halls and causing miasma. My dwarves are not hauling it away to the dumb zone.

Mark it as trash on the animals description. There's a little bin icon at the top. If you have a garbage zone they will take it away.
Also, make sure you have a refuse stockpile and either a corpse stockpile or a tomb that allows pets (not sure if this last part survived the update, you might have to stick to a corpse pile). The pet should get dragged somewhere, DF can be vague about what's a corpse and what's refuse so just experiment!

Yes very true as long as it goes out the fortress somehow before it annoys the dwarfs, then it can be sorted afterwards.

It's not the dead corpses that are a problem.

It's the ones that aren't dead that I'm worried about :|

and i have Weregoat (werewolf) corpse inside my fortress and troubles getting rid of it as well.
quite annoying dealing with this sh1t every time while each type of corpse needs different method and they dont seem to even always work lol.

Make sure the corpse isn't forbidden (a small lock icon)!

in this case simple corpse stockpile actually worked. everything else didnt ;)
thank god

Dumping item seems to be low on the priority list. Lower than regular hauling. They'll haul the corpse to a stockpile reasonably fast, but they'll take ages to dump it. I always have a "refuse" stockpile next to the dump "hole", with doors and a corridor so the miasma doesn't spread.

I did, but the dwarves just ignore it and complain about miasma :P

The following worked for me:
Open the Labor Menu (default: y)
Open the standing orders tab
Open the Refuse and Dumping tab
Click on "Workers save corpses" to "workers dump corpses"

IDK if this will cause problems with dumping dwarves instead of burying them though.
What worked for me: I made a custom stock pile for corpses + refuse that I thought might cause miasma, things like body parts but not shells

They will usually clean it it up but if you have allot of tasks set or simply don't have many dwarves or no zones. it can still take forever, personally i grew tired of it and just used DF hack to use the command prioritize , not only will refuse and such be dumped quickly, the priorities have changed so that certain frustratingly slow tasks like cleaning can be selected to be done immediately.

Or what has happened plenty of times: Open a cavern by accident and attempt to quickly place a wall or door but.... no one shows up, and then 20 stupid crundles (or worse) come storming in, that ♥♥♥♥ is so infuriating.

So.. any task you'd like.. some see this as cheating but whatever, if i lived in a colony of people then the major, manager, or whomever could certainly prioritize any task that has the highest priority.

And and what Cyborg said, use custom made stockpiles, separate the stinking from the non stinking :p and i sometimes use between 5 or 10 dwarves to only do trash collecting/lever duty, but make sure everybody still does it. oh and you could use a custom stockpile for bones near your craft area so they don't have to walk down there everytime, allot of artifacts use bones, anyway there are many many options.

Bit long but hope it helps,

Cheers.
