Dwarf refuse to wear armoured footwear

Even when i assign specific low/high boots to my dwarfs they wont put the iron boots on.
It claims that they have two metal footwear assigned to them but they do not put any armour on.

Having the same issue. My military is wearing full iron plate, except for going into battle in socks. No idea why, there's a dozen available iron boots in storage and they've been ordered to wear them, they just... won't.

yep, i have 10 of both High and low iron boots.

Now try to get them to wear their assigned gear when not on duty, you know in case of random hostiles while they do their work.

They should be putting them over their leather shoes, has this changed since the steam release?

running into the same issue here, they do claim them, but they dont actually go an wear them

They're already wearing shoes and uniforms will by default be set to "wear over clothing".
You have to go into the equipment window and click the button at the bottom left so that they replace their clothes with armor, then save the outfit.
Also give them an outfit that includes clothing because they'll strip down, then set them to either training or to be ready (schedules, click the 2nd to 4th cells).
If you also want them to wear shirts, socks or 6 cloaks, you have to make changes off an existing uniform (ie. metal armor), then save it effectively creating a new uniform and then individually assign every squad member to that one.

All my military equipment besides weapons literally just turned to dust in like 2 seasons. Just gone to the void. They were all in full iron plate and as soon as I took my eyes off them it just friggin ceased to exist.

I had to go into each soldier's equip menu and remove the high boots equip order and just assign any footwear, then select Uniform replaces clothing, click confirm. Now they go and equip the high boots and after that i click back to Uniform worn over clothing and they'll keep the high boots and wear regular clothing underneath as well. Hope this helps.

I was doing this till i realized they would spend half the year running back and forth dropping off their civilian clothing and equiping their armor over and over again. Now i just send em in full plate with socks and hope they don't get hit in the foot.
