Deleting taverns and other locations
I could not for the life of me figure out how to delete taverns, hospitals, temples and other such zones locations. Is there a way that I'm missing? And no, I'm not talking about the green rectangle (the zones) that it's tied to.

{edit} = I want the ability to remove locations from this list when you accidentally create one[imgur.com]

Open the Place Information Menu (hotkey uppercase P), go to the Locations tab, click the magnifying glass on the row of whichever tavern/hospital/whatever you want to delete, then click the red "no sign" like you would to delete a zone, the location should be deleted now too. Took me a minute to figure out too lol

That did not exactly do it. It removed it from the locations menu list, but did not remove it from me being able to add it to other newly created/existing zones. I am getting the feeling it may be a bug, but I have only a little experience in OG DF. To be clear, I am looking to delete the LOCATIONS, not the zones they are tied to. I accidentally made like 15 taverns on another save and cannot get ride of them from the list.

Just, as an example.[imgur.com]

Here is a list of photos, first shows me doing as you suggest, and it disappearing from the location menu, but you are still able to add the old temple to other places.

click the green square then click the place to add a location and at the top it should say remove location, or something like that im pretty sure

This does allow you to un-link the zone from the location. But this does not delete the location itself.

To explain whats going on, go to any new save and create a meeting area zone. Then select that zone and open the "add" location and create 5+ different taverns(locations). Then try to delete those locations, not the zone. Even if you delete and unlink the zone from the location, you will always have the ability to add those 5+ locations to any zone and I cannot see a way to delete the locations from that list when linking them to a zone.

Here is the interface for the "add" locations via the zone.[imgur.com] All I see is an edit name button at the top right, and that does not bring me anywhere that I am able to fully delete that location. So if you accidentally create... say 50 taverns on accident, you have to live with that list of 50 locations when you click "add location" to the zone. Despite them not being visible in the location interface via shift-p.

This shows you in a way, you can see the "remove location assignment button", but that only un-links the location, not deletes it.[imgur.com] I would like to delete that inactive location from this list under the name of "The Tongs of Verse"

Yeah, same deal. I can get rid of it from the listings but it stays on the list when I go to add locations again. In other words, it no longer shows up on the location list in the big data sheet, but if I click to add a location to a zone, it shows up in that list.

Yeah, seems to be a bug. Locations are not being deleted when no zone is associated with it. You will be able to pick from all locations you've ever created when linking zones. Contrarily, the locations list in the locations tab only shows locations that have associated zones, but you are not able to see which zones are in that location. In the zones tab you see all zones and the locations they are associated with.

Same issue here. It really annoys me alot. OCD warning maybe but it makes it impossible to build bigger locations lategame because the list gets to cluttered.

Just bumping this to say the bug is still there.

Came here looking for answers. Every day I play this, I find a new problem. It's like Cyberpunk 2077 all over again.

ian.alvord: Really? The game is nearly unplayable for you because the dwarfs remember the name of the tavern they loved to visit in the past?
tobiaslarsson87: It´s not only the devs that made a mistake here, sometimes it is the one in front of the screen. Stop cluttering the list with new locations, use the ones you have, maybe?

I've been searching for this since day 1. Currently not possible. I really hope they fix it, because it's just something that should be able to be done to reduce the clutter in some already awkward menus. It's not a huge deal... definitely not as serious as ian.alvord is making it sound. But I'm just the kind who likes to remove clutter if it has no purpose.

x10 times more ppl will complain, that they accidentally deleted the location, and can't associate the new one back.. and it'll be levelled up guildhalls, etc.

I have the same issue. Not really a big deal, however my dwarves are not going to the temple at all. So they are unable to pray.

Maybe all of you will find out later how to use the features of the game, instead of thinking, they are bugs. btw, games are art. No one went to this Leonardo guy and told him, your Mona Lisa looks ugly, make her lips more red.
If you like the game and how it works, play it. Otherwise, don´t. Stop telling devs how they have to build their game for you.

I'm entitled to my opinion. In a game where you build stuff the lack of an ability to delete stuff is bad game design. Objectively. Bad design is BAD even if it's made with intent.

Me not wanting to play the game is kind of an issue when I have already paid for it don't you think? Why are you being so sentimental? Does criticism hurt your feelings or something?

When you pay for a product you have EVERY RIGHT to ask for changes. You can't sell something and then claim artistic integrity whenever customers are displeased with the product.
