If its free, why do you actually care???
You dont have to buy it.
But as it has brought me years of entertainment I am happy to add it to my steam library.
I bought it on release. I wanted Tarn to see his years of work being appreciated.
That is not to say anyone has too. If you have never played it, and there is a free version, go give it a try.
But there is nothing out there even remotely as complicated and expansive as DF.
So you may see its wonder, come back and fork over the 25er as well.
All good.
The short version: Kitfox did a lot of work with promotions and such, which costs money that needs to be recouped. An artist had to be picked up to do all the sprite work, and music had to be paid for. That's more money. Plus one of the brothers has expensive medication he has to keep himself up in, so the cushion is a safety net.
This is an updated version with graphics and new UI.. the work that has gone into doing all this is what you are paying for..
If you dont want to pay you can still go download the old standard version for free..
Why is it not priced higher?
Then don't buy it xD
Yes, don't buy the free game. You can't afford it anyways
In 25 the developer Bay 12 Games and the developer Kitfox Games plotted against the human user Saor.
In 25 the developer Bay 12 Games and the the developer Kitfox Games attempted to annoy the human user Saor by pricing their video game the video game Dwarf Fortress at 25£.
The attempt succeeded and the human user Saor was so annoyed they made a public announcement in Steam, regarding the human user Saor being annoyed by the developer Bay 12 Games and the developer Kitfox Games pricing their video game the video game Dwarf Fortress at 25£ in 25.
I'd reccomend just sticking with the free version if you aren't sure if you want to buy.
