Dwarf Fortress

How do I prioritize specific tasks?
Like, I have everyone set to cut trees.

Nobody is cutting trees.

Do I really need to pick an individual dwarf and specificially set him to only cut trees to go get something done immedietaly? Like restrict him from anything else?

Or is there a way to set task priority to NOW?

In the task menu (IE when you click on the tree cutting icon) you'll see a yellow arrow. Click that to expand and you'll see a bunch of numbers. Tick 1, then designate the job again and it should move to the front of the list of things to do.

At the right hand side, in line with the selection options. If you click the yellow arrow, you get a number of options, including priority buttons to set from 1 to 7.

If you can't see the arrow, and are playing on wide-screen, you may need to adjust your scaling settings.

Woodcutting, Mining, and Hunting are a bit different than most skills, because they need tools. Do your dorfs have enough axes handy to cut the trees?

I'm not on widescreen. I can see the edges of the window. Odd. Lemme mess with it.

My task nor labor screen has anything. I've tried adjusting UI size to no avail as well

Make sure they have axes (even wooden training ones work), and if they're militia, that they have SPARE axes. Don't ask why.
