Befriending a Kobold.

Is it possible to befriend a kobold or kobold tribe? with their awesome stealth and skills, it would be awesome to have kobold allies in adventure mode, it IS said that some dwarves like kobolds for their affinity for shinies and steath. and that Kobolds have a form of decency. so surely there's a way to make friends with some, right?

I assume so, if you can get any diplomats or performers to visit your bars. I have several goblins and gorlaks that live as permanent residents in my fort despite them being by and large hostile races simply because they were drawn to my bar and library.

you could befriend individual kobolds if they somehow join civilized society (very rare) but you can't negotiate with kobold civilizations, they can't talk and they don't even know how to talk themselves down from infighting

ok, so I said Adventure mode, What about Fortress mode?

I have an undead kobold visiting my temples right now but I'm watching her relations tab and she's not interacting/speaking with anyone. I'm guessing since she can't speak she won't be able to join because to petition they have to talk to the Mayor, but just a guess. I was hoping to recruit her too, kobolds are adorable.

kobolds cant read and speak. you can play as a kobold in adventure mode, but only in the older versons. if you do that you can put points in speaking. and you can run back to your fortress and live there "retire from adventure mode" and go back to your fortress and play
and then youl have your buddy as you played before in your fortress that can speak now.

Kobolds can technically speak, but nobody can understand their utterances, which is also the reason why they're hostile to everyone.

The only fortress kobolds you should be able to get right now would be undead outside of modding.

That sounds amazing, fingers crossed they add it back in when they rerelease adventure mode
