Children not moving to burrow!
I'm being attacked by eldritch abominations, and although I've assigned everyone to a burrow, the children are outside frolicking with the yaks while these blood sucking shadow people are bounding across the field towards them. Am I missing a button, or are the children just doomed?

I am also having this issue, but none of my dwarves will go to the burrows during emergencies :|

I’m having an issue where the children will freeze in place and not move at all if ordered to go to a burrow. I think that something broke for the Steam edition, I cannot get burrows to function period.

I think that's the issue - They want to finish the Job of "Playing," first, before accepting the Burrow order.

There should be something that can be changed to override all non-military Orders or have a toggle/menu setting for that. (Civilian Alert?)

After a bit of !Fun!, I believe that it is related to wanting to finish jobs, as Morkonan said. Fisherdwarfs will also fish instead of dropping everything to go to the burrow. Best bet is to unassign specific jobs and cancel all active tasks that can be cancelled, then save whoever wants to follow orders.

Yes there is an issue with burrows where the dwarves will want to finish the previous task before entering them. I don't know if its all tasks but i've seen it reported on several of them.

Its not working right obviously, as burrows are often used for emergencies and we need our dwarves inside quickly.
Know that if you really really need to, you can teleport a dwarf to a particular tile in DFHack. I've used it to get around a Dwarven child werelizard who just couldn't put his toys down and go to his isolated quarantine before a full moon once; made it just in time with that.

The problem is real!

The civilian alerts is missing a button in the UI. Burrows themselves are more of a suggestion. If you install DFHack it adds a button for alerts to the military screen.

You can easily manipulate children by giving them specific chores like hauling an item somewhere.
