Do i have to do anything else exept asighning animals like horse /dromedars to the pasture because the dont use it they stay in my temple (prior to that unspecific meeting place and the wagen i came with) and just starve.

I also had a foal and a bull starve, in a huge area filled with grass, apples and other fruit. It honestly annoys me a lot.

Think i found the problem i build the area at start of my first game and somehow it endet up in the air maybe because of trees / uneven terain.

That might be worth considering... Thanks for the insight.

Note that egg-laying animals (chickens, geese etc.) don't really need access to grass or anything fancy, just nest boxes for egg laying. If you don't want to manage grazing animals then just embark with egg layers only and slaughter your starting cart animals before they starve, then you can build a small pasture with nest boxes and reap the rewards with minimal oversight.

Neat. Thanks! Grazing hasn't ever been an issue before the steam version for me. But in my first fortress, animals kept starving even though they had huge areas for grazing.

You have to assign the animals to the pasture with the button with the rabbit on it. It's in the menu after you create the pasture.

Yeah, I did.

More context: I did assign them. A sheep and two buffallo. Huge area, almost a s big as my screen. Everywhere they went, grass became mud. I thought they eat the grass, but maybe they are just trampling it? And after a few weeks they started to starve,

Odd, I've haven't seen that granted I've only been playing a few days. All I can think of is the location or excessive rain, shrug.

Does excessive rain have an influence? For better understanding: a migrant brought a Llama.
This is a picture of the Llama, and another of its grazing area. I really don't know what to do. It's already hungry again.
