How do I assign crossbow bolts?
I've created a squad, assigned them to a barracks, created an archery range, and assigned crossbows to my dwarves, which they are carrying. I've created wooden bolts. How do I get them to pick up the bolts? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. In the original version, if my memory serves me correctly, you could choose ammunition on the same screen as the rest of the equipment, but i can't seem to find any tab that handles ammo=/

Yes, and I can see on the equip section that the dwarf does not have ammunition equipped, they are red. But how do I assign them? Anyone?

Some options aren't in the UI so I suggest searching thru the Keybindings to find what you are searching for....
Sadly I think the devs will re-haul the UI.

I believe that if your barracks have bolt containersdwarves will take as needed, also wood bolts are good for training only, those things arent combat practical

Hi, I never played the original and I'm wondering if I should buy it or not. So I'm reading arround in the forum here...

Should a potential new player wait for some fixes?

I made a stockpile next to the training area and it has bolts on it, which they will not pick up. How to I make a container in the training room that contains bolts?

For that matter, how do I make them pick up bolts for patrol?

I had major problems in the older versions of this game. Dwarves assigned to use wooden bolts for training wouldn't equip bolts properly for actual combat.

Is this fixed?

After a while I got it. I had assigned a dwarf to use a crossbow in my squad of melee dwarves. I made a new squad and chose Archer, assigned the according dwarves and now they are equipping the bolts.

I can't get them to equip bolts, wooden or otherwise.

How do you determine the squad type?
Valinov Dec 7, 2022 @ 12:52pm
to answer your question about containers, click your stockpile and you will see a barrel icon in the top left with the other stockpile options, there you can tell your dwarfs how many bins you want in there and they will automatically place any "bin-able" item into them. Make sure you set the stockpile to allow bins as well.

Idk. I just created a new squad and when it asks you to pick the uniform, I picked archers. When assigning dwarves, it only shows marksdwarves but in my other squad when I assign dwarves, it only gives me melee type dwarves. I even changed the archers uniforms and they are still equpping the bolts.
