Dwarf Fortress

Cant get dwarves to dump rotten water buffalo corpse at refuse stockpile
Pretty much the title, my dwarves wont dump this corpse and is spraying miasma everywhere inside like and indoor fire hydrant. How do I get my dwarves to get rid of this body?

Check to see if it's forbidden, if it is you would have to unforbid it. I think it would need a Refuse Stockpile set somewhere as well, and a hauler dwarf. EDIT: As the above poster said it might be corpse stockpile.

You could also designate it for dumping which will take it to wherever that is set if it's also not forbidden.

I have same issue, i have created refuse and corps stockpiles, but dwarves still ignoring all the remains.

In the previous version there was an order to ignore refuse that is outdoors, but I haven't bought it on Steam just yet so I don't know if it's changed. That order was on by default.

Maybe the dwarvescan't access it? Like underwater or something

Is the refuse outside of your fortress?
Refuse outside of the fort is ignored by dwarves per default. You can change this setting in Labor->Standing Orders->Refuse and Dumping

Yeah, i've discovered this option, but issue is about all remains, not only outside of fortress :) There's about five dead hamsters, that stink all over the cave :D

You can make a dump stockpile wich may have higher priority and then dump the corpse. Not sure if it will work.

Try setting a dumping zone and marking it for dumping?

One fun thing you can do is to set up a Dwarven Atom Smasher, where you use a indoor, 1 tile wide drawbridge with a dumping zone underneath. Activate the drawbridge and it'll crush whatever it lowers on, wiping it from existence. You can use this to get rid of rocks and stuff you don't want, although I personally think any "excess" material you have is better to trade away or craft into stuff instead of deleting, but for a rotten stinky corpse that's one way to get rid of it.

I think that in the previous version there was an order related to vermin corpses as well, but I haven't checked to make 100% sure. Hamsters are a type of vermin which are different from normal creatures. Cats hunt and kill vermin, leaving the corpses littered around.

EDIT: You can catch the hamsters in an animal trap if you want. If a dwarf likes hamsters they will take it as a pet, with it riding around on their shoulder IIRC.

Its working too, but i hope to find standart way, when dwarves will gather remains and dumping it without command, like in old version of DF.

"You can catch the hamsters in an animal trap if you want. If a dwarf likes hamsters they will take it as a pet, with it riding around on their shoulder IIRC." - nice idea btw ;)

Thank you! This was driving me nuts as they were leaving rotting corpses right outside of my main entrance and bothering new arrivals and visitors.
