Dwarves constantly dying of dehydration?
They have about 5 wells ready for water, with water sources available, with buckets ready. Yet they refuse to gather ANY water and keep dying mere tiles away from wells from "Dehydration" like a bunch of bumbling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots. I don't understand.

Also, anytime you make a new fort: DISABLE "COOKING" ON PLUMP HELMETS AND ALL YOUR ALCOHOL!! If you don't, and you make a kitchen, your idiot dwarves will cook up all their precious alcohol into non-drinkable food, leaving your fortress doomed to die of thirst.

Dwarfs hate water. Give them good grog!

Dwarves drink booze, they only drink water when in a hospital. also wells are funky and prone to not working so get more stills up.

Dwarves will drink water when dehydrated if booze is not available, so this is not the issiue.

If the wells are not working, try to make a drinking area in a cavern or aboveground lake or pond as a stopgap until the issue can be solved.

have you tried setting the wells as "drinking water zone" or w/e ?

Did you embark somewhere with a stream or river? Even if you build a well, you need to dig out a cistern under it and fill it with water (usually by digging a tunnel to a river)

The fact they are dying of dehydration suggests there is no water on the map anywhere.

Also, dwarves drink alcohol. You need to farm and brew the crops into alcohol for them to drink. Water makes them unhappy.

gather some plants and use that to make alcohol with the still (make sure one of your drwarves can do that job!)

Yeah the well should also be designated as a water source. But you need alcohol; even if those dwarves don't die, they're slow and grumpy.

Are you in a salt water area maybe?

What do you do on a map that doesn't have any water or aquifer? Asking for my own fort actually. Though seems to be running fine since I got plenty of booze being produced for the moment.

Dig down. At least one of the caverns usually has some.

How do you disable cooking for certain items?

Labours menu > Kitchen tab > click the green cook icon(leave the brew icon enabled) for Plump Helmet
