so in the original DF, you have 2 layers on a block, the block, and the floor that block sits on, when you mine, you mine the block and leave the floor, you can go down a level and mine the block at the same spot above it and that floor layer still remains. I was wondering how in the steam version do i remove that "middle" layer floor
preferably from floor above but can still be done from below via ramps i think, otherwise they can dig above if the channeling operation is done above a floor.
Otherwise you risk cave-ins unless you babysit your miners.
If you already have a room and want to make it higher, channel from above from the interior outwards. Again, you'll have to baby your dwarves while doing this otherwise you greatly risk caveins.
