Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

No labor priority system?
I'm trying to setup the work priorities like I would in Dwarf Therapist, but I am not seeing anything in the tutorial or in the game's GUI indicating that there is any kind of way to prioritize labors on a dwarf-to-dwarf basis.

For example I'm trying to get my miner dwarf to prioritize mining over hauling and generally get every dwarf to consider hauling the least prioritized job, but I can't do it. I also usually allow a couple of extra dwarfs at the start to help out mining so I allow their mining labor, but I don't want them to consider mining equally as high a priority as their original purpose, like woodcutting or fishing, which they should prioritize over mining or hauling. Yet I cannot find any way to set a system like this up.

Am I missing something or is this not in the game? Will it ever come to the game?

Got the same question. Mining priority designations are also presumably gone. unless I'm mistaken.

I've seen mining priorities, but not labor priority.

There is a button that opens more options for mining designations. You can then select 1-9 priority for jobs. I do not know if the priorities are global or only for the specific job though.

Designation priorities are displayed if you press the yellow arrow button.

There is mining priority, but oddly no labor or stockpile priority it seems.

Yes, you can prioritize individual tiles when giving designation orders, but these are only in relation to that specific labor (mine these tiles before others, etc). They have no bearing on other labors. So I'm going to just assume there is no labor prioritization and I'll have to start making specific dwarves my "designated haulers." Super disappointing.

I was not replying to your query but to Udrakan's "Mining priority designations are also presumably gone".
On the aspect of labor priority, I did not even know that was a feature of Dwarf Therapist. I just used it to easily sort my dwarves and enable/disable labors, never saw any priority system.

Labor priority inclusion or mod would be a godsend. Then a keybind profile for classic DF controls would be awesome.

If you check the (?) help, I think you'll find this is really still vanilla DF management under the hood for your dwarves, so you can allow anyone to do a labor, or lock it to specific dwarves, etc. (enable/disable individual labors) but there's no labor prioritization, that was always a therapist/dfhack thing -- which let's be real, is probably already hard at work on getting working for this version :)

That's a utility mod. It isn't part of the game itself.
