this game is so old and offers so much that i think it deserves it
also, if you don't want to pay... just play the ascii version (the classic), and put a graphics mod in it (easy)

I didn't know I was paying only for the texture pack and the music, with nothing else attached to them.

DF has 20 years of work behind it. I don't mind compensating the devs for it. If you have a problem with this, the free version is still readily available to all. This is a complete non-issue.

Here they are selling a reworked UI on a game with many many years of developments...
The basically created a whole genre of games.

And they are selling for a low price.

Add to that the fact that they are selling a graphical version only because one of the two devs had to face huge medical bills...

Well, there's been hundred of changes over time and the development has made huge steps interfase wise. We are not talking about a huge company, but more or less a one mans job (and his brothers help and stories) and lately with more help graphically.
There's a ton of things you can do in the game, and it will gradually grow to allow you to do more things that was promised (and that we have tested out before in a completely ASCII interfase ). It's ok to not want to spend 30 on it, it's actually your choise to do whatever you want in this life, but for me giving those 30 for this game feels like the right to do after all this time he has spent making the game.

Quite frankly I purchased this and cannot get used to the interface changes..I am probably going back to the free version.

Nevertheless I am not losing sleep at night nor will I return the game. DF has given me hundreds of hours of FREE entertainment. If buying this helps the developers and brings the game to a new audience then I am a happy dwarf.

also The entitlement to complain about this when the game is free is bonkers.

Yeah it's horrible. Lists take up way to much space, Now I need the mouse for almost everything.

I still bought the game to support Tarn and Zach but man do they need someone to tell them that their old UI didn't suck all that much. Just because you can use a mouse doesn't make the interface better.
