But so that doesn't happen again I recommend using burrows, and just designating a huge area where dorfs can go to say fish, cut wood, etc. without going into "savage" territory.

Is this a feature that will be added to the game later? It would be very handy to be able to set which announcements pause. Announcements making a sound would be nice aswel. Ideally several stock sounds we can adjust to which announcement we want. I am ignorant on how much work this would take. So please know that whatever your answer is, I appreciate all the work anyone has done for this game. -Love from a new DF fan.
I agree, this would be a nice QoL addition.
Assign it to a Pasture. They will take the cage there and release it into the pasture.
I Hope that they restore the report and announcement screens, with the functionality back to how they work in the classic version each entry date stamped so you could see when something happened, auto pause and the ability to jump to the dwarfs/ creatures concerned. the along with the single step key, The new system is not as useful especially for the story making part of Dwarf Fortress.
I second the QoL UI settings as well, or at least point it out in-game to say "hi, change this file if you really want this"
