Stockpile + barrels for example

The way to do this in the previous version was the "quantum stockpile" (see the wiki for details on several flavors). Stones are one of the few items that don't naturally compact - food and related products can mostly be condensed in barrels, while metals, bars, clothes, and many other sorts of finished goods can be compacted with bins.

The normal way to deal with excess stone is to make something out of it that does compact (mugs, furniture, stone blocks if you still want to build with it).

Stockpile em out of the way, or just ignore them for now. Eventually, you will make enough stuff out of rock that they'll use up all the rocks laying around.

What to do if i have 190k stone 83k ore and 230k wood on map. Do you think i still able to use it all? :steamfacepalm:

Turn all your non-economic stone into floors (i'm srs, eats through the stocks)
Make coke and bars out of your economic stone, turn it into armor and weapons
Die a terrible death due to increasing the wealth of your fort to previously unknown mathematical values

I really loved quantum stockpiles in classic because of how much time it takes to haul rocks but unfortunately I think it's gone in this release

Also, stone crafts sell for really good money, first two caravans I trade with usually get a sheetload of various rock figurines and I can buy out their stock

Quantum stockpiles have been "fixed"? ow
Otherwise, some people used the dump function too.
Like, if you have a big area you want to clear of stone, you just mark them all for dumping, then they'll be stack in one tile.
Then you unforbid them from the dump zone.

Otherwise yes, try to convert them in stone blocks, crafts, furniture, mugs, pots (very good substitute to wooden barrels), ...(?)
Try to create most things from rocks because you'll be swimming in them otherwise, sadly, otherwise just smash them with a bridge, if you're overwhelmed by low quality ones.

My solution in the classic version was quantum stockpiles, and I hoped to use it again since I don't like to have to create a ton of rock things to somehow reduce the stones everywhere.

Ah yes making floors everywhere could work too, good idea. I'm already making walls+floors for some areas but I might as well do it everywhere.
You can engrave constructed walls and floors in this version, for those who didn't notice

Good to know!

Just cut everything into blocks and store in bins.

Or make them into rock crafts, which also go into bins and trading.

Blocks can be used for building but not for making crafts, sadly.

In case you don't know, you can rocks into rock blocks, which can then be small enough to store in wooden bins if you make some. It's how constuction stone can be stored en masse. As for furnitures and craft, I think they still need stones in their original form.

Basically as Celgaming mentioned.
