Coop, Multiplayer, MMO
I never played it, but it seems like a good game to play with others. Can i expect anything like that either form modes or from DEVs?

They had to change the game structure a lot, that would be a lot of work
and they got stuff planned for... years. Just the magic update will take years.

May the gods have mercy on whomever would dare enter the realm of multiplayer in DF.

The most common way DF is multiplayer is succession games:

I had that idea long time ago but I didn't know that was a real thing.
Good to know. I need to do that one day.

Rimworld has a coop multiplayer mod that is very popular, I'd love to play DF in coop! Just basically allows both players to control everything/anything, so it's really more like a screen share than a game that assigns individual units to players, has teams, etc. Hopefully if this supports Steam Workshop we'll see that kind of mod here.

The multiplayer thread is in literally every singleplayer videogame across the entire steam store. That said, I can't think of a game less suited for it than Dwarf Fortress. You're talking about adding an extremely volatile game mode to a game that has a tendency to crash 3 in 5 times on just loading it up.

If anything, world sharing or succession would be nice, but the steam forums are usually too chaotic to get anything that organized put together.

I mostly want games to have multiplayer because I know if they don't I won't be able to find the time to play them ;p
