Final Fight
I really like the game and I've spent 50 hours with it. Unfortunately once you get a good deck toghether the game soon becomes quite easy - I haven't lost a fight. Thats the first problem.

Now I find myself at the final battle and there's no way I can win it. The enemy just has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of strong cards in his deck that reinforce each other, he has cards that let him draw more cards and a nasty ability that boosts one of his units by +10 almost every round. in other words: he's way OP.

This kind of difficulty spike right at the end is just frustrating. After 30+ attempts I guess this is another game that will rot in my library unfinished. So much for the good storytelling...

I’m only half-way through the game, so can’t comment on that fight yet, but does changing the difficulty level make any difference (if that’s even possible at that stage)?

I understand you. Tried myself 10+ times, then watched videos. And I have some card missing or some choices. I can win 1 fight, but then I lose 2. Tried to beat all his cards in 1 round after he passed (when he pulls new and new and new). It didn't help.

I finally managed to beat him but still it's an odd spike in the difficulty level. It just doesn't fit with the rest of the game.

Still I think Thronebreaker is a good title. I really enjoyed playing it.

The final fight is actually pretty easy, you just need to have a specific deck for it, there only 1-2 other instance that i had to change my deck for a fight... it took me 3-4 tries to understand what strat is needed

The only time I actually cheated, was one of the first fight on the 1st map! Lol

**Spoiler

I used a mix of Alchemists and Strays Infiltrator +. Buff the Infiltrators, they usually had 40-50 healt, then use 4-5 alchemists to buff your board

I also used that trinket that lets you steal an enemy's card, so I stole the one that buffs others

I finished the fight with 450ish points

What strat did you use ?

Yep I had to use something similar. The Alchemist is the one card I threw out of my deck early on. It proved to be essential for the final battle. Go figure. Anyhow it felt wrong somehow. I built up my deck over 50 hrs. made it better, upgraded cards, swapped trinkets and trophies etc. just to find out that it's completely useless against the strongest boss. It's like building up the stats of a character, upgrading armor and weapons and then find out that you can only beat the final boss naked and armed with a toothbrush. Oh well...

Gascon, Reinhard, 5 Adept (deploy choose a bronze unit and add 2 copies to your deck) 5 slinger (order move 3 cards from 1 line to the other), 5 drumer (play the 1st unit from your deck) 1 medic 2 alchemist. Baubles are Skull, Raven's eye, Marching orders, and Lure.

You are looking for an opening hand with Reinhard, Gascon and 2 drumers. Keep also any alchemist or medic you get.

1st round Aep will pass quickly. Good, that's the round you use to score 1 AND setup a crushing victory R2. Play drumer, drumer, start summoning things, use the adepts to place what you need in your deck (usually I go 3 drumers, 1 alchemist and 1 slinger except if I summon the medic). Shuffle his units, mix in your baubles (except skull), you should be able to reach a higher unit count than his while 1) making Gascon 50+, 2) keeping at least 2 alchemist in your hand/deck, 3) keeping the medic in your hand/deck

Round 2 is easy.
SKull on all but Reinhard. Play Gascon. Multi copy Gascon's strength on your weaker units. Just make sure you allways play Reinhard LEFT to Gascon.

I usually reach 90+ on Gascon, and about 700 on the round. Best I saw Aep achieve was 400 I believe. Easy win even with a 50 Gascon. There's also other ways to play it, I just described the most classical scenario.

Edit: and I find strange that you did not even consider the alchemist with the absolutely ridiculous strength some units can reach. It's been a staple since my 1st playthrough with the drumer

Ya the final battle I worked on for (2) hours and even came to the messageboards to get advice from people and tried those strategies and never could win - it just seems very out of place as far as the sudden difficulty change for it - too much like a puzzle (which I was not a fan of) instead of straight up Gwent.

Ultimately I downloaded cheat engine and just cheated by setting one of my cards to 900 in each round. :)

Had struggles with the last fight too. Usually played a deck aimed at disrupting the enemy, fire , explosions all that.
But the ability to replace killed units with units from your deck made this tactic not viable against Aep Dahy.
After building a new deck focused on buffing my own units I won on the second try after replacing Mahakam Ale with Dimeritium Bomb.

My deck was:

Meeve Longsword
Lyrian Banner
Black Blood
Lyrian Wine
Dimeritium Bomb
Muzzle

Reynard Odo
Isbel:Destroyer
Eyck

3x Lyrian Scytheman
3x Alchemist
3x Lyrian Drummer
2x Strays Infiltrator
2x Cow thief
2x Lyrian Hajduk
2x Lyrian Blacksmith

Won Round 1 with Dimeritium Bomb and was able to draw the rest of my deck in R2 with the Drummers + Reynard and Hajduk
Got to 650 points in the end of R2 mainly due to the Alchemists and finished the second round with Blacksmith into second Dimeritium Bomb

I was struggling VERY hard for hours too, since I played on Hard and because of not enough Gold I was not able to build my army tent fully.
So no advanced cards from the tent and only 200 Max unit value.
No Blacksmith (so no double trinkets)
Additionally Eyk went away after I did some decisions, which were not liked by him :)
Very bad circumstances to start with.

But finally I made it with a bit of luck thanks to the tipps - Seize does the trick!
And I remembered I was merciful to my son, so he played a very important Role in the first Round! ;)

My Setup was:

Meves Longsword
Gernichora Trophy (seize bronze unit every 6 turns)

Royal Decree (play two blitz units from deck)
Muzzle (Seize bronze unit)
Dimeterium Bomb (all enemies reset to original strength)
Lyrian Merlot

Arnjolf the Petricide (did not use him at all - so feel free to replace hin)
Reynard Odo+
Dagur two Blades (did not use hin either - feel free to replace)
Prince Villem (Very important for first round, on tries he was not in my hand I forfeitet)
Isabel Destroyer

Strays Bomber+ (2x)
Lyrian Scytheman+ (5x)
Reinforced Ballista (4x)
Strays Cavalry (3x)
Regiment Drummer (2x)
Gheso Arbalest (2x)
Alchemist (2x)
Strays Infiltrator (2x)
Field Medic (2x)

So how it went:
First round Villem is the man - When Opponent plays his (boost left and right units unit, dont know the name) play him left of it (the unit has 10, villem 9 with green morale of the army)
In the next move opponent will play an additional Unit to the left of Villem.
Now Villem and both of the Booster units have 10 Morale - so use longsword on a Scytheman and 30 points of mayhem plus the boost mechanic go to your side.

That lead to Opponent not passing early, because I was in points lead.
I used my gernichora and Muzzle seizes in first round. but kept the Dimeterium Bomb for the second.

After I won the first round thanks to the boosts from the two units of the beginning the second was still very tight.

Again I used my gernichora for seizing the Unit which gets 2 Morale if enemy uses his ability or orders.
And additionally I got a boosting unit of his too.
When I ran out of cards (my last one was the dimeterium bomb) I was in lead with ~300 points vs. ~50 points on the opponents side)
Now he played his "draw additional cards" but my seized units gave me some morale bach each round.

At the end of round 2 I still had ~300 - and opponent managed to get ~250 something, but I won. Exciting battle where the others in the game were a walk in the park even on hard mode.

Used this combo:
alchemist and the plunderer
the female magician can copy an units, you get it with the drum guys, reactive the orders.

Sure, there is much more points possible if you work for them exaclty and if you prepare your deck. but I used the same deck in the whole chapter and wanted to try firstly - and was succesful.

The game still went some rounds .
But ends when the Nilfgard lines were full <--- btw. this also a simple way to win, do no damages at the opponents line. because there are some unit which make damages to you, many, if you destroy enemies.

I actually managed to deck him, if I remember correctly he draws a card each time a creature of his dies? its been a while, I remember I had 2 spiked traps on each row and both rows on fire with the alchemists. Then I had a ton of those farmers that buff everytime meve uses her ability. Maybe I got lucky
