Turret Sweet Spot
During my playthrough of SGWC I've noticed that it usually takes me three shots with one of the higher power rifles using regular ammo to destroy a turret. A few times, out of the many I've taken out, they were destroyed with only two shots. And on two rare occasions, one shot did it. But, I can't recall where I hit it. In all the times I've tried, I haven't been able to find that sweet spot where the turret blows up with only one shot.

I saw a video where a player consistently took out turrets with one shot, every time. I replayed the video over and over to see where he was aiming to get it to blow up with one bullet, but I can't seem to duplicate the shots, even though I used the same rifle; the Sturm Precision with regular ammo. I even tried the highest powered rifle with armor piercing rounds, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

My suspicion (only speculation, mind you) is that, since the player made that video one month after the release of the game, there has been a patch that made it more difficult to take out turrets. Or am I wrong?

So, I'm asking, has anyone found a way to repeatedly take out a turret with just one shot of regular ammo? If so, where is that sweet spot?

It being changed post-release seems plausible. I dunno if the lowest difficulty makes any difference for damage/health values, but if yes then he could be playing on that one.

I was recently lucky enough to capture this in a video I'm working on. But I haven't been able to repeat the shot since. It's only happened once before in all my time spent in this game. The 'sweet spot' is either only a few pixels wide or it's a randomly generated 'lucky shot', programmed into the game. I think both are possible.

Surprisingly, I've also had a couple 1-hit kills recently, too. Mine were both shooting from the front of the turret, looking straight at it. I'm not even sure where exactly I hit them. I'll have to try hitting them where you showed but, I still don't think there's any consistency to it.

But the video I saw that consistently took them out with one shot was always aiming at the base of the turret, from head on. Here's a video I did to show the three turret shots the player named ODEEN made...

Played some more today - and the spot either works, there was an amazing luck, or yesterday's patch messed with this and made these kills much easier.

First turret I came across died after 3 shots to various parts of body. Then 2 of them, around 150m away, died in one shot to the spot I put on that images earlier - just seconds apart. Then later I came across another outpost and 2 more died in one hit on roughly the same spot.

e: played part of the next area now - every turret I could get a hit to that part exploded.

@JEB CAN FIX IT 2021 I was playing around with this some more and I was amazed when I took out 3 turrets in quick succession with just one shot for each one. I was face on to them (like looking down the barrel of their gun), and aiming at the gun itself. Unfortunately, I wasn't recording then. but I'm gonna keep trying.

I've also tried aiming at the spot you showed in your image, and it seems to be effective, although getting that angle doesn't seem to happen that often. I think we may be zeroing in on this "sweet spot".

Also, you may be right about the recent patch having something to do with it. I do seem to have more luck at one or two shot turret kills since the update.

Looks like you found that sweet spot. I just knocked out 9 turrets in a row with 1 shot to the part you showed in your pic. A kill every time. And I think you're right about the recent patch having something to do with it. So, thanks for the info JEB. You FIXed it. ;)

I can vouch for that sweet spot that JEB found. Here are 17 one-shot turret kills in one playthrough of Arecheyev Fortress...

I've scored numerous one shot kills by aiming just above the barrel of the gun as it faces you. Must be pretty close to aiming directly at you, but a little off to each side seems to work also. Sometimes it might take 2 shots, but still aiming at the same area. Anything else will take 3. (I also got one shot kills- not very often- at the lower back side of the gun just above the tripod.
