Would anyone be kind enough to help me understand the gameplay loop/upgrades?
Hi everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding how the game wants you to handle upgrades and the gameplay loop in general.

First, it seems like the game excepts you to play the same mission over and over again? Where does the variation come from, it seems like the contracts and such are always the same.

Second, while the game allows you to exfil and edit your loadout the changes don't actually take effect unless you start the contract.

Where does the replay value come from if restarting a contract just has you do the exact same things over again?

Are upgrades even worth it? Shouldn't I just complete a mission in full and use the currency I've gained doing that and then move onto the next one? Why farm upgrades if there's no variation in the missions?

I'm brand new to the game so I could be wrong about all this but if anyone would be kind enough to explain how the developers intended the gameplay and upgrade loop id really appreciate it.

Thank you.

The variation comes from changing your contract killing strategy in each session.

Suppose you kill one contract with simple sniping in your first session. This contract target will be dead for the rest of session. As your replay revolves around killing this target, the developers probably didn't see any reason for changing the loadout mid session cuz that won't do any good as the target is already dead.

This is changed in Contracts 2. Cuz you'll be dealing with short, mid and long ranges simultaneously.

I suggest you read the SANDBOX chapter from the guide. If that satisfy your replay valuation then its good. If not then I'm afraid you'll have elaborate "your meaning" of replayibility.

Thanks for the information.

The objectives such as "Download information from the computer " are those meant to be replayed also? Or just killing the main target?

Is it a good idea to do all objectives and then exfiltrate or do a few, upgrade equipment, and restart the contract?

Sure the main targets are a sandbox but what about the various objects on the way to the target that don't require killing anyone, should I redo those too?

I read your entire guide and while some of the wording in it is a bit obtuse it did help, thanks.

No. You do that one time. But choosing different routes will allow you to vary the kill pattern and strategy. Sustaining stealth is the main goal.

Do all the objectives first. This will unlock the next map.
Return to the same mission, concentrate only on the Main Target. You don't have to redo all the objectives this time unless you want money.

There's no need unless you need money to buy some equipment.

Appreciate it. You can take it as a game review cuz I tried to investigate each corner of the game and make comments on what is wrong or right in my sense.
