Help...Really BAD performance!
Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm new to PC gaming and just built my first PC. Other games are running fine (Ghost Recon Wild Lands, Rocket League, Metro Exodus, GTA V etc etc, no issues but i have purchased SGW3 and Contracts and both run like they are skipping frames or stuttering and dropping frames like crazy.

I have a Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB 3600mhz Ballistix Ram, RX6800 GPU running and running a 1TB Sabrent rocket Nvme 4.0.

I have tried changing a whole host of settings in the Radeon software without any joy.

My monitor is a Samsung G7 27" running 1440p.

I have tried tuning the game from Very High to Medium (lowest it will go) and this improves FPS overall but the skipping frames or stuttering and dropping of frames still remains.

Anyone had similar issues or knows of how i can improve this? At point the game runs over 120fps but then i see dips to 20fps in places but even when the game is running at around 60fps its like its juddering or stuttering. Hopefully someone can help or it would seem i have just wasted a bit of cash as it makes the game unplayable in its current condition.

Thanks in advance.

1. Try tweaking with Nvidia control panel :
Open up the panel go to 3D management! Select your program and change two option that will drastically improve the performance!
(i)Threaded Optimization!
(ii)Power Management Mode >> Prefer max. performance.

2. Make sure your PC is not running in power saver/balanced mode. Change it to AMD Ryzen High Performance, not High Performance! Also check out the administrator privileges!

3. If the game stutters while you play(not just the beginning) then probably you started the game a little early before it could fully load the textures. In that case you can change the texture settings in the favour of performance.

As you are new to this business, I won't suggest you use advanced tweaker.
Let me know if these helps.
Regards.:tyger:

Appreciate the message however. Apologies if it wasn't clear but im running an RX6800 so i don't have an Nvidia control panel. Im using the AMD Radeon Software and i dont see the equivalent settings you raise in point 1? My setting are currently set in Radeon Software to "Gaming".

For point 2, it is running AMD Ryzen Balanced. Switched to High Performance now with no difference. This is with the latest chipset drivers installed.

Point 3, good shout but i already tried changing the texture settings too :(

I have also set the game to run as admin and high priority in task manager with no impact. Also Windows Game mode is turned off, also tried with it on...nothing.

Apologies for the first point! I only posted it as it worked for me and in the hope that you'll find some equivalent parameters! it seems that Radeon don't have the threaded optimization settings. As it is a global problem, kindly post your solution if you find any!

Try set "Wait for vertical refresh" to "Always on" in radeon software. Also set Frame rate limit to your monitor frame rate as this game didn't limit it frame rate in main menu.

Thanks both.

I have tried this thanks im using a G7 so the frame limit is 240fps, I have tried limiting the frames both high and low and tried to cap it at a steady 30fps too but no joy. Its really annoying. Im using Driver version 21.3.1 which some have said have stuttering issues so it may be down to that. There is a 21.3.2 version out but its in beta, i tried it and it made no difference so i rolled back.

If anyone has any other ideal let me know, i will update if i find anything else.
