Anyway, OP, unfortunately AFAIK there is no character customization. There's a preset character, and I don't think you ever see his face since it's hidden behind a mask. This feels like a compromise to move away from the "grizzled American sniper dude" thing the previous games were caught up on.
My personal suspicion is that the game was originally meant to have a female protagonist but this changed for some reason. A number of things point to this, such as the first piece of artwork that was released, and the fact the survey they sent out back in 2018 asked about female protags.
Indeed, we had this artwork with a woman sniper, but there was apparently no follow-up. It would be interesting for the developers to explain why.
Even if the character has a mask, I hope I can personalize it a little: make him adopt a camouflage suit (it could be different depending on the climate) for example.
It's funny how some of you want to be in the game. This is not you in the game, it's a fictional character, an anonymous mass murderer that kills hundreds of men without flinching for some shadow organization with unclear motives... I don't see how this character should have the same haircut and clothes you wear in the real world for you to appreciate that.
