How to get glass?

I need to get a heater for Summer's cabin but it requires glass and i have no idea how to get it... My ship also doesn't have the ice breaker upgrade because I don't have a spirit flower so there's a lot of stuff I can't reach yet. The only other quest I have active is to talk to the CEO of the workers on strike but I haven't found the key on the island (I've explored all I could with the glide ability, I still don't know how to bounce on things).
So yeah I'm kinda stuck but I figure if I can at least upgrade summer's house maybe something will happen lol, any help would be really appreciated! :)

You don't need any key to talk to them

(I'm quite beyond this point and still haven't found glass either yet, sorry)

You can make glass in the foundry -press LB/RB on the ingredient menu- or one of the shops sells glass

I can make glass bottles but it is glass balls, do I need to upgrade it?

You get glass bottles out in the world - you can buy them from Francis, or fish them up full of glims (and occasionally other things). To get glass, you just melt bottles down in the Foundry.

This is pretty much the reverse of how glass works in the real world (unless you're focused entirely on recycling) but it's how the game manages it.

Best way to get glass is is to buy bottles from the wandering merchant dude. sell him empty shells, sawdust, and treasures, (keep an old shoe or 2, for if memory serves you'll need these later. Also, once you have sheep and orchards, you'll be drowning in wool and fruit, sell these as well. Finally, nebula threads will net you some cash.
