GUIDES FOR BEGINNERS: Puyo 101!
Are you a newcomer and never played a Puyo game before and thought this would be just another puzzle game and now can't understand how people can even chain?
Try these guides:

"Absolute Beginner 101 Chaining Guide", for those who don't even know what a Puyo was and basic information about chains:
https://puyonexus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1865

"How to play Puyo Puyo", a more extensive guide with very basic methods, chains (visit "The Blocking Method", stick to Part 1 until you get the hang of it and only then go to Part 2 to recognize and replicate chains) and more advanced techniques (visit those Part 3 links) too for those who got the hang of mindless chaining:

If you'd like to learn by watching videos, try those:

REMEMBER: If you want to train against the CPU and you're an absolute beginner, play against only ONE opponent so you can play at a slower pacing. If you're still having trouble, move to the Endurance mode, the first opponent is even easier.

Don't think that if you give the CPU a "Spicy" handicap it will have a harder time and you will play without having to worry too much. A harder game of Puyo is, for a decent player, a game with more chances to make counters and give the other player a harder time too. If you want to mess with handicap, give yourself an easier one if you absolutely think you need it to learn the game.

Also, don't try ranked matches if you just know the basics. As much as I wish the game had more players so we could have a healthier ladder, there's no mercy there.

Have fun! :B1:
