Holy F*** I suck at this game
I thought this would be another simple puzzle game like Tetris or even f***ing Columns. I can't chain for ♥♥♥♥. And how do you instant drop the puyos, no matter what I do, the AI is always faster than me in dropping. :steamsad:

Any good tutorial videos or guides out there to help me out? I found this one page that showed some simple chains like sandwich and stair technique but those didn't really go in depth.

In Columns, you don't have an AI dropping garbage puyos whenever you finally set up a chain, thus ruining your entire game and forcing you start over. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

you press down to drop puyos faster, pressing up instant drops if you have the rule setting enabled

The AI opponents have different difficulty levels. The three most difficult are Dark Prince (hardest), Risukuma, and Rulue. So if you are getting whupped by the AI, pick another opponent.

Yeah welcome to Puyo Puyo Champions. I bought it for the Switch because reportedly the multiplayer community is the largest there. So now I am 2-15 for wins-losses against online opponents. I'm getting destroyed. I read up on how to build chains with blocking but it is sooo difficult to do this while playing against someone who is sending you garbage.

Unlike Tetris, garbage in this game lands on top of you. So you're almost ready to trigger a chain, well, the opponent does a cheap move like a 2 chain and he ruins your well constructed for 4-chain by landing garbage on top.

I still don't understand completely the blocking method.

Some guy just white washed me by putting all his puyos dowen in one single corner and working across from it, he bested me wihtout even thinking.

I can't win a single game against AI. I can connect 4 all day long, but it's the chaining that baffles me. Seems cool though. Worth looking up a guide.

I hope you did not make the same mistake as I did, starting off with the two quick games at the starting screen. I almost uninstalled if I hadn't seen that there is actually a menu.

I have poor understanding of puyo meta. So I tried mirroring my opponents moves and was unsuccessful. Once the garbage wall appears it seemingly snowballs to a short match.

Don't feel discouraged, it is one of those "Easy to learn, tough to master" puzzle games. There is a full-on lessons mode that will teach you everything you need to know.

I too had a tough time with this game. Thanks to the lessons provided, I was able to take on Risukuma and other players online!

If that isn't enough, I can teach you what I know.
