The Spongebob Movie Game, although enjoyable, was definitely not as liked as the original game. People who have invested thousands of hours into the game (speedrunners specifically) have said that there is a lot more to enjoy in BfBB because it has direct references from the show, and movie, even though it used the same enigne, had a lot more bugs and a lot less content. And in rehydrated, they're adding even more content that was cut from the original game, fixed, and ready to play.

If you enjoyed playing movie, I would definitely go on either an emulator and play BfBB (Dolphin is the best), or more preferable if you have an xbox 360 or a ps3 lying around, they both have backwards compatibility with BfBB if you have the original Xbox or PS2 version.

I had The movie game on ps2. Played it soooo much. This looks very similar.
Id like to get into emulators but ive had bad experiences. Super excited for BfBB.

I played both BFBB and the Movie game, and enjoyed both, but definitely enjoyed BFBB far more. That being said, I would love to see BFBB Rehydrated do very well and give them the opportunity to redo the Movie game, since I'm sure they could solve some of those bugs and add a tiny bit of content.

I played the Movie game first, like a couple years before, so I have nostalgia, but up until very recently, I preferred BFBB. It wasnt until I did a 100% playthrough of the movie game that I began liking it a lot more.

I dont think the movie game will happen because it's a movie tie in.

Well, think about it. Spongebob is a TV Show licensed character. Honestly it's the same character in both movie and bfbb, and believe it or not, the movie game came out a couple months before the actual movie did, so if you really wanted to, you could still call the game "tv character licensed", and even stand alone and say that the movie was based off of the game.

But yeah. BfBB came out a year and a half before movie, and movie used the same exact engine. Managed to make a slightly less enjoyable but still great gaming experience. Also have to take into comparison that movie had almost HALF the development time that BfBB did, so props to thq for pushing out what they did at the time.

If movie were to get remade, it would have to be under the same current developer, Purple Lamp, and also you have to hope that rehydrated does well. If it doesn't do well in both sales and reviews, or honestly one or the other, nobody will want another spongebob game, thus no movie. However, if the game has a huge amount of sales and a whole lot of positive feedback, then they'd probably see it as an opportunity to do the same thing with movie.

Hmm since THQ would have had to renew their deal to use spongebob trademark they will likely make another game perhaps.

bfbb was good, but it has a lot of issues. The movie game, being the second heavy iron spongebob game, took all the bad spots of bfbb and refined them into making a much better game. Movie game is more polished, more focused, has a lot more content and more fleshed out ideas, and just controls better. Though what bfbb has over the movie game, is it's callbacks and references to the original series, it's character variety, and bosses. Boss fights in the movie game, while not bad, are not nearly as great as in bfbb. They're my two favorite games of all time, and I'm definitely excited for rehydrated and I can't wait to see how it all comes together, but idk if it'll beat the movie game.

I loved the pzzle levels on the movie where you roll around as a ball. Or the driving levels. I see there is a level where you surf as Sandy or Surf with your tounge as spongebob.

yeah spongeball and the slide levels both originated from bfbb. Spongeball was terrible in bfbb and just kind of a nuisance used for a few seconds at a time. I love how they made it into a full obstacle course in the movie game. As for the slides, I like how they put them into more interesting challenges in the movie game. In bfbb they're pretty simple, sand mountain is fairly straightforward, even for collecting everything within them, and sandy's dream is just a really long slide with... not much amazing to talk about. Not too huge a difference but I enjoy them in the movie game better

I look forward to play BFBB, sounds great.

Honestly, what I didn't like about Movie WAS the driving and sliding levels. In BfBB, it's 100% platformer, one character at a time. In Movie, a little under 50% of the game consists of driving around and sliding. Three sliding levels, four driving levels. 7/18 levels aren't even platforming, yet this is still considered a full game 3D platformer. Honestly, I can compare this to Battlefield Hardline in a weird way. BfBB/Battlefield 4 were both great games and worth their full price point. Movie/Hardline were overpriced DLC but released as individual games instead. Movie was not worth $20 brand new at the time, much like Hardline will never be worth $80-$140 (yes, I believe they're still trying to sell it at this price point 5 years later).

I'm not putting any shame on movie. It's still a great game for those that haven't played BfBB. It's a good, maybe average game for those who played BfBB before it. That's why I recommend to those that haven't played either of these games, to play Movie first so they're not disappointed by the almost lacking amount of content there is in the game compared to BfBB.

hmm i did play it when I was like 7 or 8 back on ps2. I just remember teh driving levels were my favourite.

Idunno, there's some more content in the movie game than there is in bfbb. Problem is, I played both when I was younger, and haven't stopped playing them much, so I don't have the nostalgia that's specific only to bfbb.
