Issue In The Robot Sandy Boss Fight

I can't damage Sandy in the first phase of the fight. I wait for her to jump up and send Spongebob into the air. I then ground pound and Sandy's head comes off but she never takes damage. I've looked up videos of the boss fight and I've tried ground pounding really high, on the robot, beside the robot, jumping really quickly. Nothing is working. I've even tried reloaded the checkpoint and reopening the game. Has anyone else run into this?

I think I may have fixed it, for some reason my computer was detecting a third monitor when there isn't one. I disconnected this and it seems to be working now. Could have been caused by reduced fps? I don't know.
