I defeated king jellyfish but I don’t have the spatula
I thought I remember grabbing it but it’s grey on the screen

It's not a soft lock. You have to give the King Jellyfish jelly to Squidward at the beginning of the level to actually get the gold spatula.

huh I could have sworn I saw a spatula at the drain and then I picked it up. Maybe we're both right and the game was stupid. I'll see if you're right next time I play the game

I honestly thought you did bring it back to squidward. if you warp to that specific spatula, it should warp you straight to squidward. That's my bad, i misunderstood what the issue was.
