you make a game for a platform. did you know if you make a game in any game engine, you can;t just slap the executable onto a MAC or LINUX machine and play it, right?
You need to make CUSTOM versions, lol.
this is why not every game on earth can be played on APPLE's MAC.
OR why ppl whine they want a LINUX version.

you have clearly no idea what an OS even is, or why knowing th OS you're developing for is a HUGE important thing. xD there's so much to go into on this, it's not worth even explaining a little bit - none of this is going to register for you.

I literally work in IT and can tell you haven't, that isn't how it works Macs alone use completly different kernels and have vastly different architecture let alone Linux but windows doesn't really change, the architecture and stuff hasn't really been changed since Vista so yes you could compile an EXE on windows 10, put it on windows 7 and it would run, running a program compiled on windows 10 and then running it on windows 7 isn't like compiling on windows and then running it on OSX at all

Yeah I would delete that reply if I were you lol If you can't afford windows then I doubt your pc will be good enough to even play the game.
Your logic is strange, give me $ 200, if not, then I doubt that you have a good computer.
Dude a windows 10 key is like 40 bucks tf you mean 200? Lol, chill out and go borrow moms credit card

your IT has EFf all to do with developing games.
Maybe if you were an engineer, you MIGHT have a clue, but you're an IT guy XD you don't use this stuff.

People in certain parts of IT need to know about OSes and their inner workings to do their jobs, so the guy actually has a leg to stand on with his points. Also video games are programs, so what he said DOES apply to them. As long as they don't use APIs specifically made for Windows 10(Such as DirectX 12) or other new features, the games should generally run regardless of Windows version.

I've literally developed game prototypes in unreal engine, unity and crytek so I do know how all this works, if you truly understood you would be able to explain things instead of just calling me brain dead

That's not what that means, 19% of all people world wide use windows 7 alone, that is over 30% of windows user using windows 7, implying half the world population had a computer and wanted to buy this game on pc you have then excluded 721430000 possible customers leading to a net lose of £173143200.00
No, stop. You can't use "the world" Use what people use on Steam. There's a resource for that, the HARDWARE SURVEY. Only 7% of Steam users use Windows 7. https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

IT IS NO LONGER WORTH IT TO KEEP SUPPORTING AN ANTIQUATED OS WITH NO SECURITY SUPPORT.

Windows 10 64 Bit is what you should be on.

Yeah. Windows 10 is the most stable Windows I have ever seen. I use it for years, it works like charm.
Absolutely. And it's the most optimized Windows for gaming. Every version of Windows had a couple things you had to tweak, Windows 10 is no different, and after you've tweaked it, you get more out of your hardware than any other OS... Especially with the new 2004 update that increased FPS by like 15% even more... which is INSANE for an update to utilize your hardware that much better when it's already so optimized
My two cents on the matter. I understand completely why someone would prefer Windows 7 (to an extent, I'm sure a good portion of that is either nostalgia or resistant to change) over Windows 10, but you do have to understand that by using an outdated version of windows, that you **need** to understand that there are risks involved with that.

Developers are not obligated to develop for an OS that people don't use, (and a large portion of that 17% that still use windows 7 are actually schools and businesses, not people playing games.) And also, it is not expensive to upgrade to Windows 10 at all, you can literally buy OEM keys online for a few dollars (less than the price of this game) Also if your PC can not run Windows 10, I'm not sure if you will find much success running modern games on it.

Also I'm sure that Windows 7 will still run on it, just that the game wasn't developed with Win 7 in mind and won't be optimized for it

While the previous Windows versions have more or less reached End of Life, Additional Notes note:

"Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system, Windows 7 and 8.1 are supported but some AMD Graphics Cards might show weaker performance on these OS versions."
This is good

If you have a windows 7 os with a valid key, then the upgrade to 10 is free. Also windows 7 is pretty old right now. It came out in 2009.
