To top it off Vivendi Universal acquired Fox Interactive from News Corp in 2001. Why is this part significant? It's a working relationship, despite these days 20th Century Fox don't use a holding company to licence out their properties to have games developed. It is all within the same house and is pretty much fit for remastering: it was a hit when it launched, the pc port was also a hit when it came a bit later, it's considered the best Simpsons game, and has a huge cult following. Just like Battle for Bikini Bottom here
I think Hit and Run would benefit more from a reboot rather than a remake considering the gameplay itself would feel outdated with all the driving and crashing type games since then. But a reboot would do brilliantly.
But only if they bring back Apu, our good friend, a national treasure...
BRING APU BACK DAMN IT!!!
But I want them to reflect the true wicked core of insanity that inhabits those cartoons. I hate polished versions suited for every age.
Have you played Rugrats: Royal Ransom? I enjoyed it.
