The way sprites rotate as you get close to them looks terrible and should be changed
Just go with the Doom method of keeping them in the same orientation. The way you've done it doesn't work and looks stupid, like dead bodies are moving around. They also don't rotate correctly in regards to camera position so the whole feature is a mess.

That's great, almost everyone disagrees with you.

...That's a huge assumption jump buddy

you don't speak for

1) The developers
2) The community (Of People who 1) Back it on kick starter or 2) Who currently own the game)
3) You only speak for yourself that's it fact end of conversation

Whether something looks good or bad isn't decided by the opinions of everyone. It is decided by the opinions of those who know what they're talking about

A lot of people get emotionally attached to games and defend them emotionally. Purely objective analysis is that it looks bad and it's misguided.

Kind of what I said a moment ago you are not the developers only they truly know what they are on about or why they made current art/game play decisions. And general lack of constructive criticism is shocking on some of your forum posts right now are shocking.

Developers are making a product for end users. I like what I've been able to play of the game, but that doesn't make the devs all-knowing gods who are beyond questioning. Sometimes they make logical decisions that don't always pan out perfectly when executed, and its important for end users to point those issues out so they can be corrected. If someone can illustrate clearly where the problem is, that's infinitely more valuable feedback than "I like it" or "I don't like it."

Before seeing this thread one of my first thoughts about the games art was how the corpses looked strange. I appreciated that the devs were trying to evolve the Doom style of death sprites, but rapidly changing between different sprite frames gives off the visual illusion that the corpse is moving, and that's not very good when you are trying to visually convey something that is dead, i.e no longer moving. It does stand out, and in my opinion it would probably look a lot better if those who enable models could just see a static model on the ground.

Its a cool idea but I agree its a bit jank. It looks as though all the dead bodies are alive when you are navigating the level.
Yij 9/nov./2020 às 12:22
This too. Also would love to have an option for unfiltered weapons

You can turn sprites off and have models if you want.

Doesnt change stuff like barrels and various other things. I don't want to play with the models, they look worse, I want the misguided idea removed. It doesn't look good.

Are you sure about that for the Early Access build? When I had the playtest installed, and when I tried that feature it seemed to make enemies go full 3D but the sprites of dead bodies (humans) stayed as sprites, so the effect seemed inconsistent.

I personally think it looks amazing, it's what sold me on wanting to try Prodeus and thus end up backing it

You're just choosing one janky visual over another because you're used to it. Bottom line is they're both janky and in this case at least, it's supposed to be.

Don't agree. The sprites moving looks considerably worse and makes the player misread what's happening

It's meant to look like sprites though. And they are lit by the environment wherever they are. The shader is practically witchcraft
I like the sprite art for the most part, but the bodies on the ground and the barrels do look weird. It seems like the proportions are off for the sprites from certain angles, which makes barrels in particular look like they are drastically changing in size.

I think they just need to tweak a few of the sprites to fix it.

Didn't you say you were refunding? Your opinion doesn't matter now. Haven't played it yet today but if its still the same as alpha then I like how it looks.

You're making a lot of assumptions there on what people think when you don't even have half the current game owners commenting on this.

Options are always great though and if they got around to adding that choice, I would be all for it.

I have to agree with the bodies and barrels looking bad. Perhaps the best way to preserve the lo-fi aesthetic but looking correct otherwise would be to use voxels.
