Unknown at the moment but I won't expect too much to be honest. The devs said in an interview that they are not writers. So I guess it's more in line with the light story elements given in the intermission screens in the original Doom.

Like Bungie's 'Marathon' games, the story can be told in between scenes of brutal carnage and map shenanigans. Insert your own story.
