how to beat wasp queen?
I uninstalled it ages ago because that was the last boss I needed for the new game+. Do I need certain gear for this, or is there a trick?

Aside from a ranged weapon (staff preferably) and mithridatism mutation there's not much you need. Something with a dot can help with the mini wasps she spawns at each phase though as they die in three hits, regardless of the damage of those hits.

If you're really struggling then widow armour is useful as killing any of those wasps will heal you a lot. They've also just buffed the ant pets so if you have invincible pets you could take black ant (50% damage reduction) or fire ant (+25% damage)

Oh and if you stand right under her when she's spamming ranged attacks most of them will miss

As far as I know there's no salty staff. The sour one is a good choice as she's not resistant to it but the projectile is slow moving. If you can, get the fire ant queen staff. It looks like it's low damage but it ignores all resistances

Also they STINGS, so Spicy safety mutation that reduce damage by 50% might be very strong.

Wasp Queen was definitely the hardest fights I've done in this game so far. She took a lot of tries but I eventually got a build that could handle her.

If I remember right I took the sleek path for all armor upgrades for more status effects.

Fire Ant Helmet
Corrosion effect for debuffs on Queen

Termite Armor
Dust Cloud effect for more debuffs on Queen

Assassin's Greaves
Cutman effect for damage over time on Queen to add dps and slightly negate her healing.

Fire Ant Shield
Salty Toenail Scimitar

Sprig Bow
Gas Arrows

Trinket
Giddy Goop

Mutations

Blademaster
Coup de Grass
Spicy Safety
Cardio Fan
Trapper PEEP.R (Can swap for Mithradatism if needed)

Optional depending on your game difficulty or if you're struggling
Sticky Green Machine (Stamina Regen)
Sticky Fuzz on the Rocks (Max Health)
Sticky Boost Juice (Max Stamina)
Sticky Liquid Rage (Attack)

Now first tip is one of the most important and I haven't seen it mentioned yet. I love playing first person but for this fight it is much, much easier to avoid her explosive bombs if you are in third person so I recommend fighting that way.

Second, her minions die in 3 hits of anything. This is why I just have a basic sprig bow and gas arrows. It can be completely unupgraded. Ignore the gas proc as it won't damage you enough to matter but will destroy her helpers in seconds when they spawn. This is especially important to get rid of the drone asap to reduce the healing the Queen receives.

Your shield will allow you to completely avoid needing perfect blocks and poisonings so long as you at least block the attack and avoid the explosions. Pretty much anytime she attacks with her stinger all you need to do is just hold block. This is why I did not use Mithradatism as you (ideally) shouldn't be taking a poison hit aside from maybe a lucky shot from a wasp/wasp drone. Avoid the Queen's bombs at all cost as their debuffs are painful and can cost you the fight, especially if you get hit with reduced healing effectiveness.

Depending on your difficulty the Giddy Goop trinket is very important is it not only debuffs the Queen on every third sword hit in the combo but it also adds decent damage to your combo finisher. This matters as the Queen resists damage more and more as her health falls so every scrap of extra damage you can do to her helps. These debuffs stack with the debuffs from the Fire Ant Shield/Helm as well as the Toenail Scimitar's infection debuff and the bleed effect from the Assassin Greaves.

Here's my fight with her on Whoa difficulty if it helps you.
