Solo Woah Mode - Tips or Advice?
I have approximately 200 hours in Grounded as a solo player. I completed a play through of Medium and I'm now going through a full run of Woah mode, with the intention of reaching NG+ and going from there.

I have a main base situated on the retaining wall between upper and lower grasslands (the BBQ level). I'm really unsure with how players are meant to effectively deal with raids. Mosquitos are easy enough, although it can be a pain to get them to the ground sometimes. Imagine what wasps will be like to deal with.

Any tips or ideas on how to properly defend a base?

I mainly use Sleek Ladybug level 8 armour. I have Level 8 Minted Mace, Salty mace (Sandbox recipe), Coaltana and a Spicy Staff.

Should I be focusing on trying to level up my armour and weapons further?

I have completed all of the labs and killed the broodmother spider with Ladybug armour and Coaltana. At this point I feel like I'm really just meant to be preparing myself for the other bosses.

Any recommendations on what level gear/armour should be before attempting the other bosses? Should I stick to Ladybug armour?

Any and all advice, tips or recommendations appropriate for Woah or NG+ are greatly appreciated.

While you do not get infused weaponry until NG+4, you will get some interesting variants as you start climbing toward that goal. That being said, the Sour Axe is your best friend, unlock it, level the crap out of it. When you need to go one handed, a toenail scimitar or the salty mace from the sandbox. Alternatively, a broodmother club will also serve you well with the stun from repeated hits.

Base defense is very subjective, if you're where I think you are, build up a network of spike strips to funnel the land based bugs to easily defendable spots. Maybe put up a bomb or two since you use the spicy staff and can activate them with it. Put some disposable decoy buildings out there too, particularly an acorn turret.

Armorwise, my NG+6 character is using the sleek ladybug helmet when I don't have the seasonal Lucky Hat equipped (get this asap, free +20% damage against most insects). Chest I have sleek fire ant spaulders. Legs are a bit of a tossup, personally I like using the black ant kneepads for crit chance after block (sleek or sturdy, your call), though there's plenty of good options depending on what debuffs you'd rather inflict.
Whoa bosses hit VERY HARD, so tier 3 armor should be better imo. (well I think ladybug is overated so I'm biased for this take). Else there no really an armor or weapon that effectively counter any bosses. Even wasp queen is surprising easier to land melee unlike the wasp pests. As long you adapt the elemental weapon for it it should be fine.

Your have pretty much every elmental weapon with your (I suppose) favorite type that jack of all trade. So you should be fine with these.

Base defense it depend on where you are. If you're really afraid, you should do the mix.R for guard dog mutation. Should be easy to reach it lvl 2 in whoa with your actual gears. Also make a second lil layers of walls around your base, raiding bugs love to stop and try to destroy them instead of keep going toward your house. Be SCARED of Wasp raid tho, it's CANCER. In fact I even suggest a stuffed wasp head ready in your house for these.

I hope you have ash walls set up. Not only they're the sturdiest ever, but if any bug destroy them, you recover 100% of the material. It's also a STRONG trick in mix.R even. Just copy and rebuild on the spot with the recovered ash.

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated. I haven't really familiarised myself with the many different effects and benefits of different armour, and for some reason I never thought to mix different pieces depending on the debuffs I want to apply. Will definitely try out the armour you use after reading about the effects.

Seems the Lucky Hat is obtainable in March, so lucky for me that isn't too far away.

Thanks again!

I'm still using Mushroom walls and Grass floors, so base upgrades is definitely something I'm going to need to work on. It's very time consuming as a solo player. So much running around to do.

Thanks for your advice, appreciate it.
After having a very bad tiger mosquito raid I decided I needed to have a plan for flying raids. The best way I have found to deal with flying raids on Whoa playing solo is actually through a decoy base.

I basically set up a bunch of half ash cement walls with a little 1x1 grass square hut in the middle holding a lean-to, workbench, and a chest.

So now if I trigger a flying raid at my main base I simply reload the auto save the game creates right when the raid starts (or one a few min prior to that) and run over to my fake base (currently it’s on the stones near the gas area). Raid triggers on the fake base and either I win or nothing of significance is destroyed.
As for your other questions I decided to max out pretty much everything in terms of higher tier weapons/armor. Mostly because I had nothing better to do except farm black ox and ladybirds for infinite upgrade materials (NG+ didn’t exist back then and I still haven’t moved onto it yet).

You’re definitely going to want better armor than Ladybug for the higher tier bosses. Ideally something more offensive based.

For the other two major bosses Mantis can be easy or hard. Easy if you’re going to range it. Melee? I’m not actually sure it’s possible yet on Whoa. I know I decided I was wasting my time at that point for how many attempts I gave it.

Wasp Queen is really hard on Whoa and you’re going to want more offensive armor as well as a few rarer things like the firefly trinket (giddy goop I think it’s called?).

Infected Broodmother I still haven’t managed to take down yet on Whoa.

This is a good idea. I literally just got raided by Tiger mosquitos. I have a three level castle type build, each floor is 2-3 walls high and this proves to be frustrating to defend as the mosquitos are way up in the air attacking walls and there is me trying to aggro them all so I'll definitely work on a decoy base. I'm too scared to aggro the wasps yet, I don't think i'll be able to handle them all over the yard and in raids.

Your base sounds massive (and awesome), but also hard to defend for one person. My main base is in a bush near Moldorc Castle.

It was basically impossible to even reach the flyers attacking the base in order to aggro them, not to mention even defending the stuff that high off the ground.

This is what I created for the decoy base, worked perfectly the couple times I've had to use it.

Oh man I love your little treehouse base near Castle Moldorc, it's simple but fits in so nicely with the tree. What game mode are you currently playing on with that kind of setup? Would your decoy base work regardless of difficulty ?

I still play on Whoa difficulty. The one exception being I decided after my extremely hard fought Wasp Queen victory I was just like “Ok, I beat her legit. Any farming runs on her will be on Mild difficulty.” The decoy base has worked perfectly to handle flier raids during that time.
