Why are black and red worker ants neutral, but fire worker ants are angry?
Maybe I'm missing something, as someone who knows very little about fire ants, but how come they aren't also neutral?

My only explanation is solely for the sake of being in upper yard where everything want to kill you. Game design to NEVER leave you alone and in peace there.

Or they're strong enough they try to hunt you unlike the weaker workers ants.

(also there some spots where black ant worker do attack you on sight too, depend on the location you meet them, like upperyard)

When you think how ants behave IRL I was honestly surprised workers are neutral in the lower yard. I mean, I get why but if anything the fire ants behavior actually makes sense.

What doesn’t make any sense is the black ant and fire ant armor not making the factions neutral when red ant armor does that.

If you're referring to what I think you are that only applies to a small group of enemies, not all fire ants so your reasoning makes little sense here.

They make up the main portion of the army. And they specifically make sure they show you a lot of them on the way to a certain optional boss.

We're talking about regular fire worker ants, not those variants

Fire ants are known for being invasive and aggressive. So it makes sense to have them have a more aggressive AI. This may be the reason for the black ants being aggressive on the shed porch, as well - They're on high alert because they're dealing with a more aggressive rival in the area.
