They don't go through constructed walls either, in my game. Through the side of the soda can, I can't say....I don't like back wash, so I don't spend a lot of time in soda cans.

Yeah soda cans suck for bases. I built my main base on the wooden fence post and I never get area attacks on that base.

Answer to your problem and many others with spiders is the Palisade Wall. It takes time to do but nobody gets pass that. You can also build higher walls, palisade wall can be placed above another palisade wall. I walled off sleeping wolf spiders in my base area which gave me much more free air. They can get out of there when you go far away, casuing game to spawn them where they would usually stalk. In that case you need gateway door (size of two walls) to let them back to their sleeping area or they keep awake and stalking forver.
