Help finding Thistle
First off, I know I could find a guide somewhere but I don't want the possibility of spoilers.

WHERE DO I FIND THISTLE?!?!?! I found it once in a pre-1.0 save but I can't find it anymore for the life of me. I set up my first base right next to the device you find in the first minute of the game, not the field station, so if someone would be so kind as to just give me a direction to travel in I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been to the Oak Lab, the Hedge, probably about 35-40% of the backyard, if the map is any indicator, and still can't find it. If the game is in any way procedural like No Man's Sky then can I please get a picture of what the plant looks like in-game? Thanks.

Not procedurally generated. Best place I go for thistle is the garden area near the pond and soda can. Where the flower pedals fall is a thistle plant you can climb and pick all the thorns off. Good luck.

There's a thistle plant between the baseball and the fallen log. You can see it when you're standing on top of the baseball iirc.

Huge plant with spiky leaves and a large fluffy purple flower on the top. You need to climb the leaves and then you can pick them from the stem all the way up.

They are all over in the grasslands starting area. Not a 'ton' of them, but they are scattered about. I didn't know what I was looking for until I found the one that is in the rose garden area (mentioned by @Hoodzy above) and realized I had walked right past one a half dozen times and not noticed it.

One tip for you to find more after you have found at least one, use the resource surveyor to scan for the thorns and it will mark their location on your map.
