After playing for 130 hours over the last 2 weeks this made me stop playing the game.
Also ladybug armor is very useful if you have trouble keeping your health up, especially with the sleek upgrade (you can find a bunch of cool style nuggets to upgrade it in the haze & haze lab).
Alternatively crow crossbow with salt arrows also works fine and means you only have to dodge his bubbles, keep track of the lasers and not step near the poles when they're charged. All the adds and the boss itself are really easy to kite.
You can dodge the lasers by jumping over or crouching under them. You can dodge the lightning by standing in the middle between the poles instead of near them.
I need recipes for my forge for the salt or mint ingredients for this but the only chips I have left to find are the ones in the black ant hill and the sand.
So, I guessed that these chips would bring these recipes.
Lasers, bubbles and lightning poles fry you at the same time from every corner.
Not to forget the enemies.
I can't just go in the middle. I die there.
Dunno if this was made harder with the last updates but i find it way too hard compared to the rest of the game.
And I did die a lot and had to reload the game.
But there was always another way/tactic I could use to progress.
But this is nutz.
Just gave these to Burg.L.
Going ranged makes the dodging easier too since you can just stick to the safe areas and away from the boss to give you time to dodge his attacks.
The safe area for the lightning poles is like a big plus sign centered in the middle of the room and directly next to the window or the back wall.
The lasers can be jumped or ducked, as mentioned. The bubbles are slow and easily dodged.
You can spend the entire fight just sticking to those areas and shoot him full of arrows.
With a decently upgraded crossbow the adds can be one- or two-shot (which you should definitely do ASAP), the rest is literally just crouching or jumping the lasers and strafing left/right to dodge bubbles.
You may have to pick up your arrows once or twice depending on how many you brought, but that's easily doable when the lasers/lightning are inactive.
Took the whole fun from me and I really liked the game so far.
As for salt weapons, there is a MASSIVE salt tunnel in the sandpit, you should find plenty of salt for weapon work there.
The rotten spear in the lake is a tier 2 weapon get that with coup de grass and you will constantly stagger/stun him every time you crit and deal alot of damage. If you think thats not enough you can upgrade the spear or drink/eat smoothies/food to buff your damage and crit even more. Can also use a weevil shield or black ant shield to block his attacks. Can also just get a great antlion sword and whack him a few times to kill him.
Im not saying this stuff to flex and say you suck im giving you some simple advice..of what can easily beat him...but im honestly shocked you can even say he is 'nearly impossible' to beat when his lasers (which is only thing dangerous about him) are extremely telegraphed giving you plenty of time to dodge them..if your struggling on him i dont know how you can deal with the broodmother. She has less mechanics than the manager but she hits harder than him and has more adds and she is just as easy as he is.
Antlion greatsword* not club, there is no antlion club and this Boss is resistant to slashing damage so you're making it harder for yourself there if you're not making the most of the added speed from the greatsword.
However they are weak to busting, salt & spice so using these will yield a better damage bonus.
Antlion armour is only a medium armour and it provides absolutely no benefits to melee, if you're using a bow/crossbow with salty arrows (which I would advise having available) then it will help with that through quickdraw but literally any other armour would be better imo, if you're digging the bows then try out bee armour and a marksmans cap.
Barring the red ant armour literally ANY other armour is better than what you're using.
Several safe places from the attacks and you can block them with a shield or just dodge them, lots of options.
Change your gear and your approach and you won't have a problem honestly it's not THAT difficult, I find an infected ladybug or a roly poly harder to deal with.
Obligatory git gud and madcuzbad.
Even though I don't need any more help with this.
If it makes you feel better go on.
Bee armor on the other hand is not only tier 2 (which means 12.5 points of defense for the whole set instead of 15, before upgrades) but also light (meaning 10% damage resistance instead of 20% for the antlion armors medium).
Its ability also doesn't help in the assistant manager fight no matter what weapon you're using because all the enemies are already slow enough to kite.
There aren't really many armor abilities useful in that fight because you're not gonna do much blocking either, so your best bet for survivability is ladybug armor - it's heavy (meaning 30% damage resistance) and the sleek upgrade increases your healing received, making it by far the best option if you have trouble not dying.
But other than that antlion armor is a pretty decent choice even if the abilities do nothing for you.
