Failed to join multiplayer after new update

I just updated the game with my friend and only me have this problem. The game says JoinPlatformSession: Failed: 2

Make sure you both have crossplay enabled or disabled.

Only Users in the same "State" can join eachother

Thank you for your reply. Since our setting for crossplay at first are all disabled and still have the problem, so we all changed to enabled crossplay in the same day. After that change, I can enter the game normally.

They're talking about the other state not the place you live.

I have this error when connecting with Steam in one direction, with the other hosting the other person sees nothing.

Enabling Crossplay and we cannot see each other on Xbox friends list. We spend several hours trying and gave up, deleting us as friends (adding again) and checking security settings, then logging into Crossplay, but we don't show up as friends.... Such a shame. :(
