How to defend against final boss?
I'm referring to Infected Broodmother. I've mastered Phase 1 and 2 to the point that it's child's play. The second Phase 3 rolls up, I die almost instantly to one specific move - rapid slashes. When she does the fastest variation, I basically go from 100-0. Is this thing even parryable in full? I can get the first hit and the last hit, but the ones in between feels like my character can't keep up.

Do I gotta resort to using a shield? Im currently using full Fire Ant and Sour Battleaxe. I'm using the attack bonus, health bonus, and stamina bonus drinks with the Battle Ox food. I've seen a few videos and some people take such an insignificant amount of damage that I'm confused at what is going on in my game. Halp!

yes and no. it is very near impossible, but not impossible.

axes (or any weapon for that matter) are perfectly fine for phase 1+2, but you will need a sword and shield for phase 3. even her second fastest attacks can be too fast to block with an axe. best for the job would be fresh scimitar and red ant shield.

best advice (and I know it sounds dumb) is to not get hit, atleast in first 2 phases. otherwise you won't be able to heal AND she'll deal more damage to you. for that ultra fast attack, it's often advised to just hold block. if your block guage is near breaking, you can let her hit you with a scream to reset it, as long as you have a bit of distance to give yourself time to recover before she starts attacking again.

if you need extra heals, I highly recommend ladybug armour. also, ox burger is a waste of time and rss, it only gives 2% damage resist.. rather go for something with crit chance tbh. gotta try and end the fight as soon as you can, the longer it goes on, the less chance you;ll have of succeeding.

what mutations are you using btw?

*oh, and don't be disparaged with online stuff, they'll never say just how loooong it took them to get to the point where it looks like they're a god (trust me, many many MANY hours).

As for the fight itself, Phase 1 and 2 go by without a hitch; I usually finish it hitless or close. Even in Phase 3, the scream, side lunge, and big jump are simple to parry. That rapid slash is the only thing holding me back and I feel like I'm somehow not fast enough to parry it. If it doesn't kill me, I'm damn near death's door.

I might just farm some toenails and make the sword since it seems to be the general go-to in a lot of builds I've been looking at. I have a Fresh Widow Dagger but it feels awful which is why I swapped to Sour Battleaxe, my favorite weapon.

do yourself a huge favour and (if you don't have it/haven't maxed it) get blademaster. if you're going to stick to axe for phase 1+2 then chopper will trivialise it even further.
coup de grass is great at max, that's 5%, with a meal (spider slider/larvagna) that's another 5. all adds up.
if you feel you need the extra health, you could stick with meat shield, but I'd rather just use ladybug (I used it myself when she first came out).
parry master, fantastic. I also like to use spicy safety and especially trapper peepr, but that is a grind for new players, who might not have it yet.
and I'd replace corporate kickback with either shocking dismissal or mantsterious stranger

yeah phase 3 is when the real party starts. I'll never forget my first ever fight with her. absolutely destroyed phase 1. expected phase 2. destroyed that too. was utterly bewildered, as she was hyped to be an insane challenge for vet players lol
then, she got up again... xD

it's my all time favourite too but, atleast for now, and atleast for phase 3, forget anything that isn't max fresh scimitar. there's a reason it's the go to for most.

best of luck mate

Made the scimitar and got it to +8. Killed the boss on the first attempt. :/ Kinda annoyed that that is what it took, but at least the job is done. Thanks for all the tips, mate. Appreciate it a lot. o7

Congrats!! sorry it became a disappointment, buuut, now that you know that you can do it, skies the limit.

it's possible to beat her with a shovel... although, you'll probably be sad to hear, again, you still need a shield :bb_donkey:

glad I could help

i was using black ant pet, full mantis armor and sythe
basicially a crit and bleed build
i killed her on my 3rd try
you have to parry earlier than you think in the fight, since she attacks so fast in p3
if you stay away from the puddle, learn to parry the scream and avoid the annoying carpet bomb attack, its pretty doable

you already beat her, :GG_endorlight::GG_endorlight:
just felt like leaving my experience here for maybe future ppl :hunter0:
