Why waste lure traps?
I accidentally dumped my stack of lure arrows off a branch when I was making room for berries, and noticed that even without actually using them the bugs come running.
I picked up all but 1, and went about my day. When I went back about half an hour later, there were still a pile of ants on top of the remaining arrow.
Do they not vanish? Because it's far cheaper to make 5 lure arrows than a lure trap, lol.

Honestly I think the lure needs a lot of tweaking. The only bug I managed to attract was the ants; found an entire colony of worker ants crowded around the one I planted.

Anyway, I can see why it wouldn't matter if you launched it or not. The arrows are a static item that does not vanish, allowing you reclaim it later. I kinda like that mechanic, honestly. It means if I make the effort and take down a big spider, I have a good chance to get my ammo back.

I've had the lure arrows work on a couple spiders, I think. When I fought the broodmother, I shot a lure arrow and then filled her full of poison and regular arrows until she died while she sat on my lure.

The lure mechanic seems pretty bugged, sometimes it works great others not so great. I do have a nice setup of getting consistent ant/weevil parts without doing any work. I created a pit that attracts both insects and usually when I come back to my base I'll have about 3-7 weevils along with 3-4 ants to harvest.

However, I think they need to add some sort of de-spawning system. I haven't had any FPS issues or anything because I generally trash items I don't need, which is a little bother some and annoying. Though there are cases where I just see piles of water/juice drops that I drink them to make them go away.

Juice and water go away on their own, though. I've found a juice drop that vanished while I was running at it to drink.

You sure they go away on their own? I mean I've come across some big bubbles and more than one at the same spot.

Edit: I've never ran to a juice box that never had any juice for me to drink.

I've seen it happen. There are X number of drops at once time, that can merge with each other. But the juice box drips several times per day.
Each may remove a previous drop from the ground, meaning there is always something to drink unless you gobble it all up. Just a guess, of course. But because I have seen them sort of shrink into oblivion, I know they do vanish.

You could always build a 'bucket' to catch and merge all the drops. I'd be curious if the whole thing vanished once in a while.

I used lure arrows to lure pretty much all bugs, even spiders :)

I too have had a droplet burst and disappear as I approached it. It was a thing last week at least.
There's that one bent juicebox that was getting the gaggle of droplets, but that was it.

From a game fresh this week, I built an outpost by the lawn light on the oak, that endless water supply on the nearby leaf never seems to accumulate more than four or so droplets in the world, and when I leave the area and return, it starts anew from one drop.

Sorry for the derail OP. Great info, thanks.

To fire lure arrows you need to be there. A lure trap works whether you're there or not.

How much did you actually read?
I didn't fire any arrows. I dropped them. Then picked up all but one, leaving a single arrow LIKE A LURE TRAP that was still drawing enemies half an hour later, LIKE A LURE TRAP.

Whether firing/dropping an arrow, or setting a lure trap, you still have to be there to drop/set up/build one. Your comment doesn't even make sense. Can you somehow set lure traps while being nowhere near?

Maybe in time the lure effect will wear off like venom does or gas.. then you'll need to fire them.. the lure trap keeps them at the location the arrows not so much. But sure.. for now in this Early Access game they kinda do work like traps..

What are ya complaining about? And Lure Traps look nice.

I actually agree with Martin on this. The arrow can move around due to the ants kicking it around, resulting in the arrow being lost. Also over time the ants become uninterested in it.
