Can you make bugs fight?
I know that most of the larger bugs aren't really near each other. But every once in a while I seem them close enough.
And the tier 1 bow, and even the tier 2 axe I finally crafted, take FOREVER to kill some of the larger bugs.
So is there any way to use lure traps or arrows to make larger bugs whittle each other down for us?
If not, I may just have to start crafting 'kill spots' with the spike traps and use my lure arrows to lead bugs into them. Has to be faster than plinking away 5% or less of their health with the arrows.

I don't think there is a way to force them, but there are kill spots you can set up. Put a lure trap outside of a soda can, attack something and bring it there and hop inside the can and arrow it down while its attracted to the lure

Do spike traps and lure traps break that way? Or do they actually have to be attacked?
I went through more than 40 arrows killing a spider, and I feel like it would be easier to just set of 2-3 spike traps around a lure trap if the traps don't break on use.

Yes you can. Some bugs will automatically attack each other on sight, for example Soldier Ants will attack all non ants.

Most bugs only fight in self defence, ie if a spider stands next to an aphid and a ladybug charges it, it hit's the spider, the spider will then fight the ladybug.

You can imitate this by aggroing the spider to the lady bug or to soldier ants by shooting it with an arrow or just sprinting past it, then standing behind the ladybug so the spider hit's it instead of you. Or in the case of soldier ants, just run upto them in ant armour..

Soldier ants in small groups of 4-5 can take down wolf spiders and everything else. In some cases, more ants will assist, similarly, if an orb spider is fighting other orbs nearby will come to defend it, so the player needs to assist where possible as well.

Lure traps work within a limited range.. you might need to make a path of lure traps across several beds of spike traps, at about 50% health the bug will start to attack the spike traps.

Larva for example will comes in packs and can quickly overrun spike traps and destroy them.

So you'll need to create different layouts and also assist where needed.

Orb spiders will attack stink bugs on sight as well. There's different levels of aggro for different bugs. Getting a bombadier to fire into a nearby spider.. can be great fun to watch the ensuing mass battle.

I like to lure stink bugs into fighting ants. When I see ants congregated to an area I will aggro a stink bug, stop next to the ants and wait for the stink bug to release its gas and run. The gas will aggro all the ants and the stink bug will manage to kill some before going down.

This guy doesn't seem to have the 50% problem. You can watch the ants just keep running across them till they die, 50% be damned.
