Best early weapon after ant club?

So I’m sort of early to mid game at the moment I’ve got the ant club to level 5 damage I think that’s either 6/10 or 7/10 damage stats something like that anyway every weapon I seem to be unlocking isn’t going anywhere close to that even upgraded to level 5, all the spears daggers swords I’m finding so far aren’t as powerful so what’s the next best upgraded level 5 weapon as I haven’t got the chip yet to make the weapons 6/7 before anyone says I seem to only use crow crossbow level 5 and ant club and the others seem rubbish in comparison, also playing on main branch 0.11 version

For raw damage per hit above that weapon at this time the only real improvements are going to be Mint Mace, Mother Demon Club, or Ant Lion Greatsword.

Those are all somewhat late game weps. Mint Mace requires late BURGL chip and Demon needs Broodmother. Ant Lion Greatsword can technically be made earlier than them if you can handle fighting Ant Lions but those may be a fairly tough fight at that point in the game.

For one handed weapons the best thing I can think of at the moment would be Stinger Spear. It will still be less when fully upgraded as one handed weps don’t hit as hard as 2h weps. Salt Morning Star is about as late game as Mint Mace. Also requires killing Ant Lions to access the salt resources.

Yeah I used that combo for a while, seems like a good one. Just takes a lot of stamina to attack.

Good to know. However, the recipe for the salt morning star is still in the sandbox so you’ll have to deal with ant lions either way.

Thanks guys I’m about to go into the black ant hill for the first time and try and kill the assistant manager I’m hoping my level 5 crossbow and level 5 ant club is gonna be enough, also do the other arrow types do enough more damage to make them worth crafting as right now I use just normal arrows but I wondered if I would see a big difference if I made feather or gas ones
