Spider difficulty is ruining the game for me
I play on hard difficulty, so yes i expect the game to be hard, but i still consider spiders to be vastly unbalanced. They kill in one hit regardless of armor, they move faster than me, and they have an absurd amount of health. I had assumed that spiders weren't meant to be killed until i realized they drop crafting items. There would be no problem if i could just shoot arrows at them from a safe spot, but the game doesn't allow this. The spiders just regain all their health because they have no path to me. If that one mechanic was removed, the game would be so much more enjoyable for me.

Then learn the patterns and parry them and you will be fine. You can't expect a balance change just because you die everytime. That's not how games changes works.

The majority of people don't have a problem with spiders so that means there are no problems with spiders. Spiders are easy to kill because they have a lot of blind spots when they attack and with the best weapon rn in the game (not gonna spoil because i don't know if u have it) is very easy to kill, atleast 1 vs 1.

People is giving you things to do to beat them, but you just want a nerf to make the game easier for you in hard difficulty. Last advice, if you don't want to get beated so often, lower the difficulty, is not that complicated.

Hope you get the spiders with time, hugs

When you have the mint hammer and anything above Spider armour...nope...just nope.

Get lady bug armor, a mint mallet, and the meat shield mutation from burgl and you can take a hit or two from a wolf spider with just a couple of bandage or a couple of smoothies. If a little ole lady like me can do it so can you.

even with mint mallet and ladybug armor and meat shield 1 wolf spider hit takes out almost all of my health, (and the poison drains me down t o almost nothing). The wolf spider should be difficult, but it does feel they should do a little less damage (maybe poison overall does more damage over a longer time though, so it's a lot of damage, but not at once?)

With Mint + Ladbybug Orbs are pretty easy, and wolves should be deffinitely harder than them.

If you can't fight them head on you can always build traps. Spamming smoothies during head on combat helps too.

When you agro a critter that cant hit you, it looks for something you built to destroy, anything. Build yourself 6 palisade walls near where you want to hunt. Pull something and jump up on a mushroom out of its reach and watch it go for one of the walls. Pelt with arrows till well tenderized.

Smoothies are a must if you are fighting them in melee.

If you have ever played Raft then you should know what is wrong with combat in this game. Every enemy has a different strategy: Robots need to be charged and hit as you run by, birds need to be pelted with arrows when they make a run on you, Bears need to be circled at a sprint and stabbed, shark needs to be dodged and stabbed as he comes at you the later in the game baited to leave you alone. All of these strategies are completely different and can be discovered organically as you play. Each enemy poses a major threat, but none can be defeated in the same way.

In Grounded, battles feel UNEARNED and victories are hollow because everything can be defeated with the same three glitches.

One described here was running in circles around them. Applied to one early or mid level creature, perhaps this would be legitimate. But here it is applied to everything enabling you to kill the hardest enemies with only the beginning gear. Figure it out on an ant or two and you have broken combat for the remainder of the game. Try to use any other melee strategy and you will die. This isnt a mechanic, its a defect.

The second occurs when an enemy loses pathing while aggro'd. There is a bombadier beetle near the middle of the map that always spawns on a rock that is a great example. The game is programmed to make enemies run when they cant attack the player to prevent cheesing but deaggro isnt triggered until they escape. If escape is blocked they simply get locked into place and wait patiently for you to needle them to death with basic arrows. Another example is kiting spiders and beetles onto the rocks near the Koi pond or getting a wolf spider stuck in his tunnels. Again, obviously a defect.

The third is the magical safety branch/rock/leaf/bump/whatever. The glitchy spots arent always obvious, but there are many of them. Step onto them and you become Zeus almighty, immune to all damage and free to expire mere mortals at your whim! Problem is, enemies will try to escape when they see your terrifying godliness. No worries though, step off the magical perch and you are dumb food again and the enemies will return! Zeus!->dumb food.->Zeus!->dumb food.->Zeus!->dumb food.->Zeus!->dumb food.->Zeus!->dumb food.->Zeus!->dumb food.->repeat until utterly bored.

As an added cherry on top, most enemies are the worst kind of bullet sponge. This effectively ensures you will have no recourse but to glitch the fights if you want to win.

Enemy AI needs an overhaul.

Often when I see a wolf spider I'll bust out the gas arrows and cheese them, but sometimes I whip out my mint mallet and wade into melee. As long as I get perfect blocks on 60% or so of the incoming attacks and chug a couple smoothies I can beat them in a fair fight. I can pull it off about half the time. You just have to get gud at the blocking and learn when to face tank and when to circle strafe. Speaking of circle strafing, it seems a lot easier to do to bombadiers after the update.

The regaining health is unfamilair for me..that usually happens when its eyes goes black again and he looses aggro...

so dont know how you try to kill him?

Remember your human advantage over arthropods goes beyond your ability to make tools. It's your ability to manipulate the world around you to your advantage. Set up a trap and lure them into it, trick other arthropods into fighting it, lure them into locations where they can get stuck, just be creative.

Why playing sekiro difficulty then. I think fear so far is the biggest enemy.
For me the wolf spider will be the absolute last thing to care about. First a full big base with alot of loot and ressources to build and rebuild my gear alot as welll as traps. Then going for best armor, best weapon, best perks, gas/venom arrows, smoothies and bandages.
Only at that point I would actually go to hunt one and only when I really need it's parts.
I like the idea that it's like the alien roaming around, just something to avoid. A danger so that you just can't run around on don't waste a thought about danger.

If they get too hard for me i just use console commands and game mods, which fix it easy and is better then stop playing the game which i did start to do at some point before today.
