Awesome Build Locations
Just wondering what people have found for base locations. I currently trying to build my late game base and need a good place to put it. Currently I reside on the oak but, I wouldn't mind a different location, larger flat area or closer to late game materials.

Capping off the stump and living ontop of the wasps unbothered is fun too- if you just stretch a floor all the way across the top of the stump you'll avoid any fights by a long shot

Tempting, Getting mats up there would be a chore but the end product would be amazing.

* Pond - it don't get much larger/flatter than that
* Pagoda, Inside
* Picnic Table
* Porch, Shed
* Porch, House
* Top of Brawny Boy Bin (just ignore those two annoying HOA Karens)
or, my current favorite
* Elevated platform base supported by the wooden log fence and nearby boulder(s)

It's probably "easier" if you just place your base in whatever location you want, then
Use a zip line network to move freely to gather those late game resources you desire.

The Porch of both house and shed, whats the raids like, I know the shed has all the black ants on it. Also, Boy bin, the two green bugs, don't they respawn every ng?

* IDK about the severity of Black Ant raids on Shed Porch
Anchor your base to an elevated item (step near wall, potted plants, split logs), and they "probably" can't even get to your base during a raid - YMMV

* For the House Porch, it's also elevated so bugs "probably" can't get to you either
I've not tried either location as I tend to build in a more central location around the pond.

* The Brawny Boy Bin Green Shield Bugs never seem to re-spawn (after I built a zip anchor)
They did at one time, but it's been a few game weeks now and they haven't re-spawned yet.
--------
If you are also trying to limit raids (without just disabling them in settings), then try:
* Pond
* Inside Pagoda

Both locations are "supposed" to be immune from land bug raids (so only flying bugs), and the pagoda should be protected from flying bugs if they can't path through the lattice walls.

And, as mentioned before, the Stump should also be immune from raids as well.

Good luck.

Awesome ty, I think I'm set on pond. Lots of space to build. I don't know if I'll do the floating foundations or build floors out from lilly pads. This floating foundations aren't cheap when it comes to berry leather.

i like building inside the concrete statue thing on the pond :) you dont have to build walls or a floor cause its already there PLUS theres a field station which makes it easy to get daily quests!

Never ever trigger a raid of flying insects... it's a pain to protect! :steamhappy: That's why I built a second wall of stems surrounding the mushroom walls as an extra layer of protection! :steammocking:
...but you are safe from ground insects and get "everywhere" very quickly with ziplines!

Having that research station so close, would be nice indeed. Right inside their base even.

I bet, looks cool though. I thought about building on the walls of different things. Flying things would be difficult indeed. My fear right now is my base only has one support point for like 600 structures and I just had my first wasp raid and boy did I have a heart attack. I need a more sound location. Wish they would fix this issue with placing items.

That's true, but if possible, it's probably better to choose a location in a central position. I live in a small castle on the rock near the Christy Car (quite far east), and when I need to go all the way to the west (barbecue, shed), even with a zipline it's a looong trip.

I've recently started a build above the toxic chasm that separates the infected part of the yard from the first area.

It's not exactly prime real-estate, lol.

Thankfully it's meant to just be a bridge/respawn spot, but every night there like 3 wolf spiders and an infected ladybug will stroll on by the gate on either side, and if you engage the ladybug, it will just DECIMATE everything with toxic bombs.

Thankfully the bridge IS safe from the infected bugs beneath it (they seem incapable of damaging the floor from beneath), although they will agro on you and force you out of build mode.

Extremely high risk, almost no reward. But I'm having fun with it!

Brick wall where the sticky key found inside a piece of Chewed Gum located inside the stone wall above the retractable ladder in the Upper Grasslands, within a missing brick. It can be reached by climbing the top of the ladder and parkouring along a vine touching the east-side of the ladder. building a nice safe base, then i have a staircase going down to stump for sap so i can make bandages have multiple zips going to the field station on the wall and to the oak tree, my main base is inside the tree above the wolf spiders so it is safe from all attacks. Ill post them on my profile.

My favorite so far (and currently my main base) is a bush right near Moldorc Castle.

I've always found the best place to build being as high up the oak tree as possible. I've built a path winding round and round all the way up the trunk to the top of the tree, where I've built my base there. This way, I'm not only out of the bugs' way for them to attack or damage my base, I can see the whole yard from a birds-eye view up at my base, so can see which exact direction to go to travel to certain areas, or be able to locate hostile bugs, so I know where to steer clear.
It's also a great place to get food, grubs appear every morning, gnats every night around the lamp post planted at the base of the oak tree, aphids and weevils wander around a lot there, and you can smash acorns to get acorn bits, if you're ever short on meat. Also great for water sources, too, if you have the canteen that purifies dirty water, you can just scoop up water from puddles scattered around the oak tree, and it automatically purifies it and makes it safe to drink.
